Used to visit this establishment frequently, but they have decided to enforce a 6 dish per person each round (3 rounds are allowed which means you can try 18 dishes of their menu). This used to not be enforced, it was always there, but was enforced when I visited them two weeks ago. Too bad, limited food means that this is no longer an all you can eat joint and clearly making me as a customer feel fairly mis-sold.
The reason given is potential "wastage" but clearly it is so they dont need to serve more food and so that they can earn more money. I think you can understand as a loyal customer that have visited them since they opened up, gone through the staff changes, price increases and supported them all these years that having this rule all of a sudden sprung on you and enforced was surprising, disappointing and non-sensical (given that they already and have always enforced a £5 charge for wastage). Their customer service on this newly enforced rule was not great at all. I mean, if it was truly a wastage problem rather than profits you could have just given the first round as ticked and then inform the customer in subsequent rounds. Instead there was a decision to give back the slip to be re-ticked - wasting time for the food to be served. Oh yes, I did forget to mention that you will be getting reminders and pushiness 70 minutes into your 90 minute stay to make the final order . Doesnt help if the food is slow in coming out either... So not only is the food now limited, but they make sure time is stacked against you? Yes, customer service would be best improved. But the establishment has always been like this, tolerable sub-par service when communicating with the customer because the place and food was an all you can eat with good dishes.
The food. As mentioned, I've visited them since they opened years ago and have seen their food improved through the years. I wouldnt be loyal if I didnt find their food good and great value for money. Their rolls e.g. used to have too much rice (you know to fill up the customer more). This is now to an acceptable limit - technique can still be better on the rolls with even less rice, but it's acceptable as is now. I come here for the nigiris though, so when Im limited in my choices to order Nigiri (2 pieces per dish) through this now enforced 6 dish rule makes my order quite limited unfortunately. They have a broad range of nigiris (great), but I like to order more than 1 per dish to really enjoy the experience. The limit to essentially 12 pieces only per round does not allow me to enjoy my experience at all... This is a shame, because their Salmon nigiri has been the highlight for me in my past visits, and I've seen the iterations over the year to now a very well made smooth nigiri that I would say taste great - no denying of it! Their other Nigiris are good as well, but as mentioned a meagre and literally 12 pieces per round... is just lacklustre and disappointing for a nigiri lover like me. To sell yourself as an All you can eat is no longer applicable (and they need to update their website to inform their customers of all T&Cs so people don't go there just to be disappointed).
Sadly, a restaurant is supposed to improve themselves to build loyalty rather than go the other way so to have this rule enforced now is another loyal customer disappointed. I'm sure I'll be back at some point but the last experience being there was not great and left...
Read moreHave been a regular for over 5 years but the experiences are getting more and more tedious. The staff treat the place like a military operation when seating you spending a good few minutes circling all the rules on the 'all you can eat' menu, even after telling them you know them as you've been before. The last few times we have visited the waiters' have reminded us more times than necessary that you only have 90 mins to sit. This gets seriously annoying. We know! On the last occasion I asked them to remove the service charge as I did not receive good service being rushed every 15 minutes!
I think they need to start leaving a 5-10 mins time frame in-between bookings during the weekend to allow for the paying and clean up time. This would make more sense considering that the orders coming out are taking longer and longer where you're being asked to make your last order 30 mins before the end of your time whilst you're still waiting for your sushi order from the previous order!
The last few times they also have started implementing their rule of a maximum of 6 dishes per person per round, which considering the hot foods come in very small portions means the offer is not "all you can eat". Before they started ruling this with an iron fist we found that over the 3 rounds the amount of food you could eat would peter out anyway as the rounds went on, but I presume the kitchen would get overwhelmed with all the tables' orders coming in at the same time so made the staff ensure only 6 dishes were ordered per person.
The restaurant is very small so the atmosphere, mixed with the unfriendly staff, is very work canteen feeling. Loud, rushed, get in get out feeling. We also were sat next to a table of 2 stangers with less than 1 metre's distance between us (and no plexi-glass), and as they left early, had another 2 strangers sat next to us, so we came into too close contact with 4...
Read moreI went here a few months ago before then I had gone two or three times and I really liked this restaurant the sushi tastes fresh and even the hot food is really nice too. I’m just upset because I don’t think I would be able to come back to this restaurant because when I last went the server had dropped a boiling hot miso soup on me while trying to put it down onto the table I still have a scar to this day on my lap where the burn was as soon as it happened the server started to blame this accident on anything around him that he could blame on, and he didn’t even come to apologise to me until my friends had gone to another server and asked him to come and apologise to me which shouldn’t have happened. i’m not sure if it was a manager or someone who owns the restaurant but they kept coming to my table and saying that they will make all our food free and then came back a few minutes later saying it’s all 50% off and then coming back later and saying everyone else has to pay and only my food is free it was just really odd. I have thought about coming back to this restaurant because it is great value for money but I keep thinking about that time the boiling hot miso soup burned me and with the scar on my upper leg. It just really puts me off so I just want to warn people just in case anything like this happens to them I felt as though the restaurant didn’t do enough for me. The man who dropped the boiling hot miso soup on me just hid in the back. I understand accidents happen but this was just humiliating and embarrassing inside of the restaurant and I feel as though the restaurant didn’t...
