Sushimania Finchley — Restaurant in London

A Japanese restaurant being attempted to be run under a Chinese management. The staff here are extremely rude and unhelpful. They all seem to have a lack of concentration and skill. They stood around as if they didn't have any customers to serve. It is very clear that they are majorly understaffed and it has been like this for a while. I had to ask four times until my tap water was served to my table, it was given to me after 25 minutes. Our party of 4 ate with their lunch time half price special offer menu where you have to fill out a table yourself, this took a long time for the staff to collect it. As well as this my food took almost an hour to arrive. When it did arrive, there was nothing special to it. My sushi was falling apart due to it not being rolled properly and half the food we ordered was burnt. The worst part is, the restaurant wasn't even busy, there was only about 4 tables including ours filled up. Appalling service. This restaurant seem to care more about the quantity instead of the quality - they care more about the money they get instead of making their customers happy and satistisfied with their service. At the end of the meal we noticed a discretionary service charge on our bill, since being extremely unhappy with the service, we kindly asked for it to be removed. We were then told that if we weren't going to pay for it, we weren't allowed to come back. We found this outrageous as we aren't obliged to pay for an OPTIONAL service charge. Extremely disappointed with my experience in this restaurant. would NOT recommend!!! First of all, the staff made me feel very UNwelcoming as I was slow at getting my mask out of my pocket. Instead of saying ‘please put a mask on’ the waitress went ‘where is your mask?’ in an aggressive manner. This attitude really put me off dining in this place. Then my friend and I were warned by the unfriendly staff that we were ordering too much food even though we were extremely hungry and was still IN THE MIDDLE of eating. Then the waitress spilled soy sauce on my friend’s phone and did NOT apologise. the food was of POOR quality especially the stir fry udon and the ramen, as they were very greasy with technically nothing else but the udon itself when it was supposed to come with vegetable as well. The ramen was tasteless like it was made with tap water. Not a surprise that I felt sick after eating in this place, the food quality was so poorly and I would recommend people to AVOID dining at this restaurant. Lastly, my friend and I communicated our concerns regards to the restaurant service to the manager, but the answer we got was ‘oh this is just a small local business, you are probably more suitable for fine dining’ which sounds absolutely ridiculous! The food was great but the service was just something else. The full-time waiters receive all the tips and we couldn't tip the one waiter that actually was attentive and friendly. The majority of the waiters were extremely rude and unhelpful and had a huge attitude problem with us. For example, I can't eat mayonnaise so I asked the waiter can I have this with no mayo and she came back and said to me in an angry tone it is 'spicy sauce not mayonnaise' even though on the menu it says spicy mayonnaise. Secondly, when we requested for the discretionary service charge (which is not mandatory) to be removed, the manager was extremely rude and insisted we cannot remove the charge! He also said after we said that the charge it optional that 'serving us is optional'. He also said why should I remove the 10% charge when we are already removing 50% (because its half price at lunch) even though this is completely irrelevant and he is not actually removing 50% as that is the set deal the restaurant provides. He should really not be a manager of a restaurant that serves decent well priced food. I greatly believe the service in this restaurant is horrible and I couldn't enjoy my food due to this fact.
