Superb! After some chastening experiences at places that insist on prior booking before eating, I was wary but hopeful that the visit of my social bike ride to The Allotment Kitchen didn't require any such formalities. We merely had to enter the place one by one to order our meals, which was no great problem to our group of nine. We had vegan and vegetarian individuals in the party, and while I was tempted by the dahl ( I'm sorry I can't remember any further details, but it looked and smelled delicious) chosen by both. I chose a bacon and egg focaccia sandwich, and they were happy to toast the bread, which was the crowning touch to the best bacon butty ever! Read moreI am actually hugely disappointed with the lack of vegan options. Knowing that the farm is supposed to be sustainable etc you would expect more? There’s only one thing in the menu (aubergine dish that was cooked well but the ingredients themselves were like 4/10 and it costs almost £13!!!) and no vegan pastries, also a disgusting extra charge for plant based milk? I have not seen places charging for plant based milk in such a long time that I was genuinely shocked. I wanted to have a piece of cake and a coffee with a friend in a nice place surrounded by animals but I was really disappointed and upset about the lack of options for vegans and religious people. Overall the atmosphere was really nice in a sunny day, the service extremely polite and kind, but the menu and pricing needs to be reconsidered...
Read moreSo good to see new places like this in the area. I've been twice this week already. The Tuna Ceviche was incredible, and the banana bread cake was moist and delicious, just how I like it! I saw some good looking espresso martinis going to the table next to me, I was jealous but we had some yummy iced lattes instead.
There's a lovely outdoor area to eat/drink when it's dry and as it's part of the farm you get to see the lovely farm animals from the distance. It's got an indoor area too if the weather is a little testing outside. The owners and staff are really nice too, great service.
Very keen so support local places like this. I'll spread the world. I'll be back alot as I live next door and likely working from home until...
