đ Stepney Green đşÂ ÂŁ5.50 Amstel
The Peacock is located in the backstreets of Stepney in the East End of London. The nearest Tube is Stepney Green, itâs a ten minute walk to get here.
This corner pub was built in 1861 and is the soul survivor of five pubs that once graced this street. The Peacock closed for a time before renovation, refurb and reopening in November 2023.
This one bar pub is a decent size and is set out in an âLâ shape. The decor is traditional with some interesting features like the photo of the Kray twins with the pub in the background. The servery stretches down the length of the bar and has a âManns Houseâ back bar, which is a rare find. There is plenty of seating throughout and stools around the bar. To the right of the servery is a cosy snug with a dartboard. To seal this pubs East End status, there is an old Joanna.
The beer selection was full of familiar favourites and one cask ale. I decided on an Amstel, my pint was top drawer, price point was reasonable. This is a wet-led pub that doesnât serve food but there are plenty of snacks if youâre peckish.
I arrived around 4pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was fairly busy with a friendly local crowd in attendance. I got chatting to a couple of regulars who were telling me all about the area and the local pubs that have closed never to reopen. I also met the Guvânor who was nicest man you would ever meet, he was kind enough to show me around and tell me all about the history and rebirth of the pub.
Visiting @thepeacockstepney was a true East End pub experience. The backstreet location, the beautiful architecture, the local history and best of all the people. What a fantastic pub this is, the old East End is alive and well here, this is a must visit London pub.

Read moreReally great local pub thatâs been under new management now for a month or so. Wasnât the most welcoming of atmospheres to walk into before when we visited once but total transformation now! Really nice relaxed pub vibe, especially on nights with live music offerings! Really reasonably priced, and all 35ml measures. The Guinness has its own bespoke gas system so itâs as close to what youâll get over in Ireland. Sister pub over in Putney is also a firm favourite and definitely to be to added to...
Read moreBest pint of Guinness I have ever had in England. Poured to perfection! Not joking, this Guinness is top drawer. I was only going to have 1 to try it and I am glad I did! đ Ended up having a few more than that. I went here to meet a friend and listen to a great trad session by 3 great musicians. It is hard to believe that the place wasn't packed! I'll definitely go back...
