Really enjoyed my first visit to the newly opened micro pub/bar The Bird & Barrel. I attended last Saturday lunchtime. My enjoyment was satisfied on many levels, first, this micro pub looks & feels like a pub, comfortable, warm & welcoming. Unlike, in my opinion, some other micro establishment's, that have the look/feel of a cafe. Second, the selection of draft beer was first rate, three on handpump on this visit. Two from the host Bexley Brewery, Hills & Holes, a session ale, brewed for the pub, Redhouse premium ale, 4.2 & one from the North London Redemption brewery, an Amber ale, Hopspur 4.5. There was also a wide selection of beer on keg, continental bottled beer, ciders, wine & spirits. Third & you might argue, most important, the product. I had one each of the hand pump beers which were excellent & also very competitively priced, cheaper than a lot of other local micro pubs! Finally, The service was great. Behind the bar (yes bar!) was Cameron, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, efficient & friendly & his friend Addy. We had a jolly good chat about Rugby, amongst other topics. The clientele, a good amount for an early Saturday lunchtime, we're friendly an chatty. With it's proximity, close to Barnehurst railway station & on major bus routes from Woolwich, Bexleyheath, Erith, Belvedere etc, I would highly...

It's taken nearly two years to get their the first time, but I won't be long before I make my...
