We were so excited to find this pub as we live in the area and were looking for a pub that was a bit ”nicer“ and the menu offering better compared to other pubs in the area. We went there today and invited two friends along to join us in this what we thought would be a discovery. To cut a long story short. For the prices they charge the food was very average Tesco warmed up in the oven kind of overpriced pub food. One of our friends had ordered the pie which came with charred cabbage. Turned out that the cabbage was mouldy at the end bit. You could literally see the blue mould. She had been saying throughout the meal that the cabbage tasted funny until mwe discovered the mould. We returned the dish but instead of a customer service oriented staff we were only given grief. The lady serving us offered one free desert as compensation but had a sour, rude and unapologetic attitude during the entire time. Later on we were berated by another staff member, apparently the manager, asking us for a photo she thought we had to prove that the cabbage had mould on the end and questioned our complaint after having spent around 160£ for the lunch. We still went ahead and ordered deserts since only my friend was going to have one on the house. I had the banana tart tartin. It was served cold and we wondered if it was a retaliation to our complaint and my friend who had the mouldy cabbage almost didn’t want to eat her free desert as she thought the staff might had spat into the desert because of the rudeness of the staff. This was definitely our first and last time...

Poor service & food inconsistent if you even get it! We are locals, and our first experience here was good, April 2017, they had just changed the menu and seemed to be eager to please, the manager showed me upstairs and was really friendly. We returned to try their Sunday roast and it was fantastic and nice service, however our next 3 visits throughout this spring/summer failed to deliver. The roasts were not as nicely presented and meat was cold and smaller in size as was the veggie tart/roast much smaller and sloppy compared to the first visit. Third visit was a disaster, barmaid forgot to order my plate, so when my husbands plate arrived, I waited 5 minutes for mine, then nothing, had to ask the barmaid she said oh, there was no risotto left. Well wouldn't it have been a good idea to tell us that before they delivered my husbands dinner? By the time I ordered another dish and it arriving, he was finished his meal. Plus they over charged us for wine.. barmaid was really confused about this and had to ask her 3 times. Last visit the barman, who is there all the time, is just plain flat.. no personality and has no idea what service is all about. NO one ever asks, how was your meal? No one. Service is non-existent in this place, and unfortunately we don't go here much anymore. It has the potential to be a great local pub, but fails hugely on service and personality. Advise: HIRE better staff and then train them properly regarding customer service. Acronym TIPS: "to insure...

I have just left the Britannia. I have been there a number of times before, but only for drinks, and it is lovely. Very well decorated and very cosy. However i went there for food. 3 of our party are gluten free (it runs in the family unfortunately). Nearly everything on the menu had gluten in - but the waiter said that adjustments could be made where we asked. However, he just didn’t seem to have a clue what was in the food and wasn’t inclined to ask the chef. On asking if the gravy had gluten in he just responded with ‘probably’. Furthermore he didn’t seem to be able to explain what the other things on the menu were. They were out of their chicken roast (unfortunate but understandable) and only had 3 beef roasts left. You were not allowed to say how you wanted your beef cooked as it was all cooked as ‘standard pink in the middle’, similar the burger was described as ‘cooked through’. I like my beef pink but this was basically raw - with just the smallest amount of cooked meat around the outside. Partially because of this it was fully cold within about 2 mins of being served. Maybe it was just a bad day - but bad service, no flexibility, and average food isn’t a...

What set The Britannia apart from many great pubs in London was the impeccable service provided by the staff. From the friendly smiles of the waitstaff to the seamless coordination of serving meals to a large group, every moment was infused with genuine hospitality and warmth. With its combination of aesthetic beauty, exceptional service, delectable entrees, and a solid selection of drinks, The Britannia exceeds all expectations. Under the attentive guidance of Manager Sue, our group of 40 was effortlessly accommodated with grace and efficiency. Her attention to detail ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was seamless. Chef Carla’s culinary prowess shone brightly through every dish presented. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and drinks. Thank you again Carla, Sue, and staff for a wonderful evening!

Came for a drink and a meal, first visit. Beautiful pub, smart and modern feel. Quite a large place inside, outside a few seats out the front, small outdoor seating at the side. Good choice of drinks at usual London prices. Food menu was good. The service was good, especially the gentleman behind the bar, welcoming, friendly and helpful, even offered us free tasters of the bloody Mary which was very much appreciated. Ordered food, which was very nice but no condiments or check back from the lady who brought the food, which was disappointing because I would have liked some salt and vinegar with my fish and chips. Overall a good experience though and definitely a place worth a visit.
