šĀ Nine Elms šŗĀ Ā£5.75 Freedom Lager ā¤ļø One of Londonās most uniquely decorated pubs. . The Cavendish Arms is located in a residential area in the western part of Stockwell. Nine Elms is the nearest tube and is just over a five minute walk away. . This pubās architecture is typical 1960ās estate pub, this type of pub is ever becoming a rare sight on the London pub landscape these days. . This is a two room pub, the left hand side is used as a comedy club, live music and events venue, the right hand side is the main bar. . Now on to the decor, if you can imagine if DFS had a showroom in Soho in the 1970ās then I think it might look a bit like this, this place is absolute bananas. There is every different type of sofa, soft furnishing, flowery rug and trinket you can think off all of which are covered in fairy lights. At the front of the pub are a few gazeboās with yet more sofas to relax in over the warmer months. . The beer line up was pretty good which included one real ale and a few craft brews. I decided to go off piste and tried the Freedom Lager, it was a decent pint and pleasingly under six nicker. . We arrived not long after opening just after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. We were the first punters in and to say we were amazed by our surroundings was an understatement. We got chatting to the very welcoming Guvānor who was telling us all about his pub of which he is very proud of. We popped next door to check out the events area, it is a good size space complete with stage. . @thecavendisharmsstockwell is a very unique boozer which is all about having a bit of fun. This place is definitely the case where the collars donāt match the cuffs, the inside and outside of the pub couldnāt be more different. This is definitely a must visit pub just for the decor alone. Check out their socials for upcoming events. . ā¹ļø Info correct on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI did not enjoy this place... I went for the 'free comedy night' .The vibe was off and they lied about the price of entry.. Its not free..which would have been fine if they were up front about it.. Right off the bat I was badgered for money I didn't have on the condition of entry.. And the bar staff at the time was rude as heck.. The compere of the evening was Very condescending and rude making assumptions and acting entitled based on what I was wearing (faux fur does that to some people i guess) .. I went to the comedy night on a bank holiday which I was informed after was an unusually quiet night but there was no excuse for the compere to pick on us in the front row and to then be made to feel uncomfortable by every comedian after that... The whole crowd was completely made up of only the people going on stage who bizarrely seemed intimidated by me and my friend. I came out for a laugh and to hopefully find a bunch of like minded people to laugh with.. I was sadly disappointed... Apparently its not like that every night.. I just don't understand why their manners fell short when we arrived.. Horrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat to say anout the Cavendish Arms? It's a back street boudoir of a pub in a quiet set of roads in Stockwell.
This place is really all in on maximal decor and huge credit to the owner for being so bold.
The black and gold crazy golf course around the side of the pub says all you need to know. But before that there's a covered outdoor area with leather chairs and sofas, high tables, a fireplace, wooden globe drinks trolley and red fairy lights.
If that's not enough to make you want to visit, indoors is lit with red bulbs and most of the furnishings are pink or soft red. The focal point is two large low slung sofas facing each other in the centre of the room.
There are net curtains, a birdcage and glass cabinets displaying trophies which hint at a sporting past for this pub.
Holly vines dangle from the ceiling and a fading floral print carpet covers the floor.
This place deserves an award for single-minded determination to create a destination bar in the suburbs. It's been at it for 17 years and it's now a stage for comedians, musicians, burlesque and...
