Had the BEST time at the Gallifrey Cabaret - been a Who fan for forever but this was my first time going after seeing the buzz for it all over my socials and it was EPIC! such an incredible lineup of talented people hosted by the iconic Reece Connolly who was endlessly charming and funny, and the sketches in between with Carrot were bloody hilarious, and I loved how inclusive the night was.. the welfare officer on duty was pointed out with a literal spotlight, with an urging to see them should anyone need any help with anything, and there was a raffle to raise money for charity, a brilliant costume competition, Reece did a wildly funny pro-trans number, there was a BSL interpreter Paul on the stage at all times, and everyone who put the show together who’d normally remain behind the scenes was dragged out on stage and spotlit to thunderous applause and gratitude - yes it was a scandalocious gay old time with burlesque and filthy jokes, but care was at the heart of everything that happened last night, and it was incredibly wholesome and even as a first timer I was drawn into and felt huge amounts of queer joy witnessing and being part of a true community… and as a disabled queer watching the brilliant performer Xo who’s a wheelchair user on stage, and seeing the rapturous reception gave me so many feels… safe space doesn’t even begin to cover it. I can’t wait to come back, and I’m so grateful to the organisers and performers who who weren’t afraid to CARE and care LOUDLY.. this is what community looks like 🄹 thankyou šŸ’–šŸŒˆšŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøāœØ

Ali Azimi’s concert at The Clapham Grand was a electrifying celebration of Iranian alternative rock, blending raw energy with poetic lyricism in the venue’s iconic setting. The London-based artist, known for his genre-defying sound, delivered a powerful performance featuring tracks from his album Dystopia alongside classics like Pishdaramad and Rosva, captivating the audience with his dynamic stage presence and evocative storytelling . The Clapham Grand’s historic hall, with its grand interiors and immersive acoustics, amplified the concert’s intensity, creating an intimate yet vibrant atmosphere that resonated deeply with fans of Persian alternative music. The venue’s adaptability shone through, with strategic lighting enhancing the show’s theatricality, while its accessibility features ensured an inclusive experience for all attendees . Azimi’s performance underscored his role as a cultural bridge, weaving themes of diaspora and identity into his music, which reverberated through the crowd a mix of Iranian expats and London’s alternative scene. The Clapham Grand, with its rich history and modern technical capabilities, proved the perfect canvas for this fusion of sound and sentiment, leaving a lasting impression long after the final encore.

Great Movie Nights and Afterparties - the best of nightclubs. Always fun, silliness and the inner-child always allowed. Great productions, great atmosphere, genial people, great decoration, confetti craziness and the best balloon drops in South East England make this the place to party. I've been alone at times and taken work-mates at others who enjoyed it immensely. Often live acts, live orchestras and singalongs - and all in a historic setting keeping this century old place of entertainment singing for the purpose it was built. Follow up after many visits with guests, always guaranteed to put a smile on their faces. Went to a pub for dinner in Sussex and couldn't get up easily to pay the bill. "Sorry" I say to the waitress "it was dancing at the weekend up at Clapham". "The Grand?" she replies. Yes - this place really is famous far and wide.

October 2022

Joe Black: Club Cataclysm. 10** OMG what a performer!!! This is now my #1 One-man-show!!! Old school cabaret, it was very intertaining, funny, professional... Joe got lots of hidden talents (at least fr my point of view= it was my 1st when I saw his show). Interaction with audience is fantastic & we were part of the show as well by signing with him. When I saw that he's @ London I booked tix immediately = 3weeks ago as I know how got it will be!!!... Many thx Joe 4 wonderful Pre-Halloween-Show & lots of fun... I hope 2see u soon again as u r soooo unique... Btw I saw Death Drop 3hours prior & it was sooo booring that I felt down sleep in 1st half & was thinking of leaving bfr 2nd part started...

August 2022 I saw tonight The best of Hans Zimmer... Its was unbelievable šŸ’–... BUT... I was not happy with this venue : 1. Line was Not very good organised as it was Super Long = even 20min bfr performance there was 25metres long que... Instead of having 2xstaff members in the middle of the que asking us "how we r?" = they should made 2nd line & it would be much quicker... Also having separate lane just 4 ppl with Bags would b gr8 as that how other busy venues r doing this... 2. They could hv lift on site as we get in just 10min bfr it stared only 2b told, that we need 2go all the way on top which is line 6x staircases... 3. Super long que @ bar... We gave up & grab water in hallway which was HOT WITH NO ICE 😳... 4. VERY HOT ON TOP LIKE SAUNA= knowing this we would wear shorts & flip flops... They should seriously invest in some AC SYSTEM as it was unbearable... Bear in mind we were 2nd concert that evening & temperature was very high... 5. When we asked member of staff 2open both doors on each side @ interval 2get some drift he refused... I am. Not sure if we will be coming bck.... Its shame as music was brilliant... Free ice cold water & fan...

One star is generous for the experience we encountered last night. Myself and a group of friends headed up to your event and found ourselves queuing from 10:30pm for a period of two hours to then be told half our party would not be allowed to enter due to the fact the place was already over capacity. Whilst all time up until that point entry was guaranteed by members of staff. Upon joining the que, I asked the bouncer where we stand if on the guest list, to which he abruptly replied to the back of the que. It seemed a guest list was a pointless tool put in place to attract numbers perhaps? The disorganization of the event and the fact management and staff was unable to handle such a large crowd, caused absolute chaos both inside the club and outside, which in turn lead to people getting hurt due to continuous pushing, shoving in such confined spaces . I managed to get in the club, however, unbelievably things seem to be worse! Of course, limited space and every member of staff was extremely rude and the toilet attendant (womens) was something else! She was completely disrespectful and thought racial comments were acceptable. After, being in the club for a number of minutes, both myself and half of my party inside could not handle anymore and proceeded to leave. Surprisingly , we again had to wait to exit as the entrance and exit was the same door! More chaos. We paid an entry fee of £15 to stay in this place for a number of minutes. When we finally got outside and gathered our party members together, bouncers then decided to again continue to let people in. We also noticed people gaining entry through the fire door, clearly this was not being monitored by staff. I will be taking this forward and informing local authority, as the lack of health and safety was appalling and dangerous. Never will I ever be entering this club again. First...

I can’t sing the praises of the Grand enough. I have gone to countless drag shows, club nights and comedy shows there. I’ve spent birthdays and celebrated Pride there year after year since moving here. It’s hands down my favourite venue in London and I have made some of my best memories with my husband and our friends there.

Last year when they had the ā€œSave the Grandā€ fundraiser we gave as much as we could to contribute to their goal. The thought of the Grand not being open post-COVID was really sad to think about and I’m so relieved it’s managed to keep going as restrictions ease.

I got an email last week offering up free tickets to some events they were putting on and I decided to try for some Bongo’s Bingos tickets. My husband and I have had a tough time with our mental health lately so I thought if we won it would be a good pick me up for both of us. The Grand team did end up picking us for the free BB tickets and we were so thrilled! As usual from the second we arrived everyone from the security to the staff was really friendly and addressed me by name when I said we had won the tickets. It made us feel really welcomed. There was one girl in particular, who’s name I didn’t catch unfortunately, who showed us to our seats who was so lovely. She said she’d come back and check on us to make sure we were happy with our seats and when she did come back and we mentioned my husband’s seat was on a slight slant she offered to put us in a box which was actually somewhere I’ve always wanted to sit! (So excited!) The food and drinks came speedily and were great and the entertainment was fantastic. We’d never done Bongo’s Bingos but will definitely do it again.

Thank you so much for everything Team Grand! You don’t know how much last Friday meant to us and the amazing memories you and the venue have given to us...
