THE CORIANDER ORPINGTON — Restaurant in London

Party of 4 on a Tom Jones theme night this week. First time we’ve been to this restaurant and it was very impressive. The decor is excellent and very welcoming. The staff were also excellent, very helpful and attentive. The £29.99 food menu was set and unfortunately quite limiting in the starters, although I was told I could ask if I wanted something else, should also include a basic sweet in my opinion. Drinks were reasonable and service charge was optional and not included in the bill. The tribute act was brilliant although I would suggest maybe not so loud because although we went for the theme night it shouldn’t dominate the whole evening and prevent you engaging with your friends/family and other customers. We were furthest away by the door and still couldn’t hear each other or the couple next to us. He did try a cram a lot of songs in a limited space of time so it was non stop form the time we got there which was 7.30. The sound system eventually overstretched itself and go very tinny. More breaks for the singer as well to give our ears a rest. The worst restaurants I can be in my life, taste was worst but the most disgusting thing about restaurant was : Waiter said you have to order all at once. We don't serve Chinese starter , if you want you can go to Chinese restaurant. They Deny what they said about food. Ordered Chicken on-bone, he said it will come on bone but came off-bone and he denied on face about mistake. It was really not at all close to average chicken bhuna. Served a drink said it's similar to Pim's (because they didn't have Pim's) but it was much far from Pim's and rather awful in taste. Served popdam with chutney without consent that chutnies are separately charged and charged for per person whereas it was one portion. Staff was Disrespectful and manager said "I DON'T WANT TO SERVE YOU ANYMORE" and the whole staff ganged up to lie and deny about our concerns. NOT AT ALL FINE DINING EXPERIENCE, RATHER MENTALLY HARASSING AS IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED WITH US BEFORE. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN FRONT OF OUR 3 YEAR OLD KID. One of the worst experiences I have ever had eating in a restaurant, not only the taste was below average, the staff was not at all friendly, they miscommunicated and misguided about every item we ordered, they insisted us to go for another drink as they couldn't serve what we ordered and finally served us something which was not at all drinkable, in spite of explaining and clarifying the order many times, what came on the table was completely different and tasteless. They charged us for the dish we didn’t order and when asked for the clarification the staff misbehaved saying this is their standard practice where they serve some sides (like chutneys, pickle etc.) without confirming with customer and later put the charges in the bill. Looks like they don’t understand restaurant is a serious business and customers are not fools, staying in this business for long doesn’t make you customers’ choice, but the experience and the well behaved service you provide do.
