In one sentence, the best Chinese food in the Bromley area if not the southeast. Good good and great service. Not much more you can ask for.
Food Ive been going here for about 2 years now and the food is consistently good. Fresh ingredients, good flavours, and not very oily like Chinese restaurants in general. Some favourites are any of their sizzler dishes, duck pancakes, fried rice, Singapore noodles, pal choi, and king prawns in garlic oil. There are a number of others for both carnivores and veggies. Quantities are also probably a bit more than you can eat, but better that then less. For dessert be sure to try the fried banana. They brought it out for a recent birthday, and it was good! A nice surprise.
Service Five star service. Attentive staff and a chatty funny owner. they struggle sometimes on food timings when very busy, but not very often.
Atmosphere It's always buzzing. Nice decor but you're really going there for the food and service. The one knock is that they've grown out of this space. They've become very popular (for good reason) but this means it's always packed and some of the tables are close to each other. Not ideal during peak dinner if you want to have a nice conversation. My advice would be to expand to a larger place.
Overall highly recommend if you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Just make sure you book in advance. They are...
Read moreHidden Gem, I’ve read some reviews about Xian being expensive and the staff not being Friendly………Nothing could be further from the truth, The food is top quality and I’m a great believer of “You get what you pay for”, Sure you can go to a Chinese down the road and pay a few quid less but expect the quality to match the price.
The staff are warm and friendly but do have a job to do and with this restaurant always packed to the rafters I wouldn’t expect them to to make idle chit chat and leave customers without food or drinks so the people who feel the staff could be more friendly may want to consider these guys are rushed off their feet.
Now to the best bit…….The food, I’d recommend the following dishes, Crispy Chilli Beef, Chicken & Cashew nuts, Salt and pepper chicken and the scallops..
In summary if you want to spend a tenner and eat Chinese ring up your local Chinese take away, If however you want a nice evening out with a few drinks and first class cuisine then book early and visit Danny Victor and Sue at the Xian (Special mention to the...
Read moreReally disappointed after being recomended to the resturant and reading great reviews. Although staff was very friendly and polite the food was some what tasteless and not authentic. The smoked chicken was extremely sweet and coated in sugar, szechuan crispy chilli beef was like it had been coated in honey nut kellogs corn flakes, no chilli or spice at all, no szechuan pepper corns, I sent this dish back and again questioned why it was sweet and explained that I felt it was misleading as it was nothing like chilli beef and certainly had no szechuan spice. The waiters response was that is how we cook it. The sizzling lamb was massivly over powered with ginger in a very gloopy sauce. Butterfly king prawns, cooked well but completely unseasoned, chicken noodles dry and unseasoned. To top it off, I ordered prawn dim sum which I bit in to and the prawn was completely grey and raw, again waiter apologised and bought out a fresh dish but I was really put off. Definitely wont be...
