London has many pubs, but there is only one Dodo. If you are like me, you might think you donât like beer.
You are wrong. You just donât like poor-quality beer, which is what you get served basically everywhere. The Dodo is different and only serves the most flavourful, strange and exotic suds on offer. There is more to choose from than I can possibly list here.
The owner, Lucy, is lovely, and can answer any questions, or make recommendations. I told her I have a sweet tooth and I donât mind an IPA if itâs not too bitter. She brought me something called a Deadrise. It was cold and it was delicious and I had another.
Thereâs also house rum that is sweet, mild and sippable. Goes down a treat. Reckon Iâll have another one when I finish writing this.
While it is true that you can find beers here you wonât find elsewhere, and that its charm is also uniquely cosy and inviting, what really sets it apart is the genuine feeling of being in a âpub,â a social club where everyone is welcome, as long as you abide by the sign hanging in the bathroom:
Just be ââ nice, okay?
So be nice, drink beer that surprises you, and enjoy an authentic, unpretentious atmosphere like no watering hole in London can offer.
Best pub in London, no questions.
Dodos are also cute, a great mascot, and hopefully Colossal Biosciences will reanimate one soon.
Until...
Read moreThe Dodo Micropub is a genuine gem. Unique. People, rightly, come from both the local area and much further afield to enjoy the rotation of spectacular cask beers served here, as well as the multitude of craft bottles & cans, ciders and wines. Recently, keg beer has been added to the rotation alongside the ambers, pales, stouts and porters, and it's always top drawer. Whatever your favourite type of beer, you'll be sorted. Brewers choose to drink here ffs
I have enjoyed both quiet pints by myself and longer, more sociable sessions at the Dodo. It's fantastic for both, no matter your usual vibe. You'll be made to feel welcome whether you've been there before or not, just like I was
Prices are really good, especially for the quality of the beer you're getting. The pub itself looks great, the owner has a deft eye for the little details. There are tap takeovers and silent discos. Free cheese Sundays once a month - I mean who does that?! There are also often gorgeous dogs milling around for you to coo over
It's the best pub going and we should be grateful that people are willing to work hard and take a gamble so we have places like this so let's be...
Read moreIf you're tired of a predictable beer selection youâre in for a treat. The Dodo has an ever-changing excellent choice of craft beers at reasonable prices. The option to order many beers as a third is brilliant â perfect for those wanting to explore different styles or who aren't sure what to choose. Other things I loved
đșVibe - warm and welcoming. I had no idea what to order. But the landlady Lucy, and Ally helped me whittle things down. I had no idea I was into Sours.
đ¶ Doggo friendly - I donât own a dog. But really enjoyed watching some of the four legged regulars pop in.
đ»Atmosphere - itâs a small cosy room. Kinda like a wine bar. The music is kept at a low volume so thereâs no way youâll have to shout to hear people speak.
đ„ Food pop ups - although they donât have a kitchen, they have food pop ups and you can bring your own in. I had an amazing Caribbean roast at their monthly event.
The people running the place are passionate about their beer and create such a friendly and inclusive environment. Iâm not surprised they have pub awards. Youâre not going to find many places like this in London so itâs well...
