Hanwell Cemetery (former Westminster Cemetery) — Local services in London

Hi there,

I just wanted to express my extreme gratitude to the employee who was in the office at Hanwell Cemetery (Westminster) today.

My grandfather travelled all the way from Canada to visit his father's grave for the first time in forty years with nothing but a few details on an old handwritten note. The kind gentleman in the office offered to look into the records for us, despite the sign on the door saying that there was no longer any in-person service at the office. He insisted he did not want my grandfather to have come this far for nothing.

After not finding the name in the records, he suspected we were meant to be in the Kensington Hanwell Cemetery - that we didn't realize was there with the same name - down the road. He was right, and my grandfather was able to see his father one last time.
