What a transformation, under new management.upon entering was welcomed by the manager (Tom) very quickly, and we were acknowledged by two female members of staff, which were both very friendly, aperol spritz to start before dinner Interior looks amazing, the choice of colours and all quirky details on the walls and window edges.Outside little welcoming patio. The food, ordered scotch egg, charcuterie board, buratta followed by seabass, fish and chips, and roast pork. All presented beautifully, and cooked to perfection, and that homemade tartare sauce 😋 reasonably priced, extensive wine list, and good selection of beer .... my new favourite place to be, and I can't wait to try the menu during the week. Highly recommended!!!

Looks quite pretentious on the outside, but not at all on the inside. Friendly staff, and good choice of beer. Didn't eat, but looked good -first review Second review - came here for the second time, gf asked for a merlot looking at wine list, unfortunately paid without looking at card machine, but later realised the payment was too high, went to question it, and was told she was given the most expensive cabernet merlot, and was told the "cheaper" merlot doesn't come in large even though it clearly shows on the wine list is does! Money grabbing c**ts!!!!! Do not visit here!

Booked for 11 people for their festive menu and the whole process was seamless end to end. I received an email with a link that I could share with friends to preorder their food before our booking date. I was able to manage all orders and then pay a deposit all online. The General Manager called me in advance to confirm everything and was super friendly. The dining room was beautiful, Xmas song playlist was great and the food was really good. Everyone loved their dishes and the service topped it off. Well done to all!

I had booked some time ago for a Christmas meal for me and my siblings. We have just finished and it was really, really poor. Despite making a festive booking there was no festive decoration and our table was next to the food lift and till area - so hardly private and quaint as we would have hoped.

On arrival we were ignored for the best part of five minutes and stood in a crowd of people before being shown to our table. No offer was made to take a drinks order so we spent the next 10 minutes waiting to order at the bar. We did and were then told the order would be brought to the table. It was but both a Coke and jug of water were missing. It took a further two attempts of ordering the water for it to be brought to us.

The starters were brought out but no one had checked back so both myself and my wife who had ordered the pumpkin truffle couldn't ask for anymore bread (I was given a paltry amount for my salmon pate)

Our meals came out in two halves meaning myself (who ordered turkey) and my friend (who ordered the plant burger) were left waiting the best part of ten minutes after the other mains were served. Again, it took a while before anyone even considered checking. The first four mains were cooling before the remainder came which isn't acceptable.

The turkey was awful and overseasoned with pepper. We did not have the sharing vegetables as advertised between myself and my brother who was eating the same. Instead we had some hard new potatoes. My turkey was sprinkled with parsley which is bizarre and tasted terrible.

The desserts were hugely disappointing. My cheese had so few crackers, the Christmas puddings were dry and unappetising.

This just isn't acceptable for a Christmas meal.

Everyone is hugely disappointed in the experience and, as a result, I would like to request compensation for this awful experience.

I feel that if staff had checked back as is customary they would have been able to have been informed of the issues but the lacklustre service meant nobody did.

When bringing the bill, the initial deposits were also not accounted for which is frankly really poor and caused much confusion across the party. Once resolved, no one bothered to come and take payment. It took a member of our party asking go pay at the bar before anyone made the effort to obtain payment.

The service is ridiculous, and in all honesty- I am embarrassed I brought my loved ones here.

We left still hungry and disappointed. This meal was important for two reasons- the first being that we all live very far away and this meal was meant to bring us together and allow us to enjoy our own mini Christmas. The second; this was a trial prior to my wife and I joining for Christmas which we evidently will no longer be doing.

Update: refund now issued for the deposit amount (after two weeks of silence). I have now adjusted the review to 2* to reflect this. I think the response from the owner is sarcastic enough to indicate they're not overly bothered. I never did hear back re the results of their investigation into the poor service.

Just avoid. There are so many great pubs worthy of your business. This isn't one...

I have visited this pub on multiple occasions and have recommended it to numerous friends and family as we've had the best Sunday Roasts. My partner has previously left a positive review and stand by it as it is true to the experience at the time.

However, today has changed all that. We decided to have an impromptu lunch, my partner goes in to ask for a table as we had our 5 week old with us, just to ensure there was space. He was greeted by a woman who said she was the manager, the entire place was full and there was a 5 seater table with a lone customer having a pint, when my partner asked if he could speak to the customer about moving, the 'manager' refused to let him and wouldn't do it herself and rather rudely dismissed my partner without any explanation or clear communication.

We decide to leave and as we were walking a way, a man stood outside the pub overheard our conversation and said he's the manager, we begin to explain what happened, the lady who said she was the manager immediately comes out and changes her story (on top of having lied about being the manager) said the customer was waiting for his family, when my partner asked why she didn't just communicate that, she raises her voice saying 'I don't need to tell you anything' and continues to shout at him. We just walked away.

It was the RUDEST experience I've ever had at any establishment in my life. Such a shame as we really love the food but definitely NEVER going back there again.

There's a similar review about bad customer service with new staff, so looks like it's not an isolated incident. Shame, another local lost.

Have seen the the owners response, so now apparently the customer is not waiting for his family, he has difficulty moving around. Once again, changing the narrative when it suits. Which is what kicked off this entire negative interaction to begin with. My point made. Thank you.

As I've said at the start of the review, we've had pleasant experiences and my partner has left a positive review in the past. Maybe they just didn't like the look of us today. Either way, no excuse for such bad behaviour, especially in the...

Updated review from a week ago at the bottom. My friend and I went for Sunday Roast last weekend. It was banging....really good, generous portion with loads of gravy. I read their reviews prior to going and honestly, it is probably the first place I notice someone reada the reviews and adjust their menu according to what people said. Someone has said their roast needed a bit more gravy the week before, and when we went- we had noticed we had plenty of gravy (which was really goood👌). Would defibately recommend their roast. Only one thing to note the Yorkshire pudding was a step behind burnt. My friend and I go to diffferent places for Sunday Roast. This is in our top 3. (Google does not low me to post photos now) Also- staff eere really nice and helfpul.

Update from a week ago: It seems the management might have changed again...or not. However, we were a bigger group and they have overhauled the menu. We had a couple starters and mains. I understand inflation and probably lockdowns have raised the prices but not come back to eat here. For a £10.50 was presented a starter with ingrediants which if you buy and proportion would possibly come to £1.50. We had filthy fries- same, probably a half of previous size for 50% percent...
