I've visited this pub before but not for a few years and was extremely impressed with the current set up. We had a large family gathering on a Sunday and found the staff welcoming, the pub warm and comfortable and the food and drink fantastic. We were initially worried that there may not be much choice for vegegarians and for one of our party who was gluten free. In the end we all had a great time and really enjoyed the excellent food and drink. Staff were helpful with the gluten alergy and once we established that it was only the inclusion of a yorkshire pudding that made the roasts unsuitable, we were able to ask for that to be removed. Whilst vegetarian options were a little limited the significant number of veggies on the table agreed that the options that were there were really deliscious. The cask ale was well kept and I am always please to see Timothy Taylor Landlord available.
Whilst not cheap, the prices were reasonalbe and in line with most London pubs. The food was definitely very good, so overally I would say it was very good value for money. In fact we compared the bill to our last year's family get together at The Telegraph nearby and it cost at least 1/3 less and was much better food.
The only minor quibble I have personally, is that the mushy peas with the fish and chips were no more than a tiny spoonful. It was hardly even a garnish let alone an accompanyment. I'm sure lots of people leave their mushy peas on the plate but I'm quite partial to them so was sad to see there weren't more. That said the fish and chips were excellent and it cetainly didn't spoil a great meal.

Read moreI drive past this pub every day and have been eager to try it out so on bank holiday Monday, my partner and I rang to check what menu they would be serving and we were told it was the Sunday roast menu. We were excited because this is exactly what we were after. When we got there, the kitchen didn’t open until 6pm, which was fine as we got there around 5.30 and at 6 I ordered two chicken roasts. We were sitting by the kitchen and noticed that the food was being microwaved and played up in the window as we saw the chef just pouring the food out of a steaming hot plastic tub. I understand that food may need to be microwaved to save time and it may still be fresh from that day, but don’t plate it up where everyone can see it! Then when it arrived on the table, the chicken was BBQ flavour chicken ( BBQ sauce). Now the menu said lemon and thyme and a BBQ sauce chicken is definitely not what I was after. We told the bartender who spoke to the chef and replied “ if it’s not what you ordered we can change it for something else” but no apology was given. Then 10 mins later we were offered a free dessert or drink each but we decided not to take their gesture because we didn’t want to be disappointed anymore. Never going here again and I think I’ll stick to making a...
Read moreI came here to do some work... Joanne and chef looked after me while on site...
Very friendly and accommodating... The place was exceptionally cleaned throughout to a very high standard 🙂(photos)
Lots of inside and outside seating and eating areas, a large covered smoking area too.
Quaint colourful courtyard seating shown in photos.
Kitchens and prep area standards are very important to me and Chef was busy preparing food, you could tell he was taking a pride in the food he was preparing... You can clearly see the kitchen through the service hatch and again very bright and very clean.
They have a pizza area just off the garden... This sounds great... It was too early for this to be on but it's nice to know it's there.
Great decor and an open fire with cosy arm chairs...
What more could you want on a cold day
Finally a huge selection of wines and spirits
All in all a great place to visit for food or...
