A Memorable Afternoon at The Hansom Cab
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
A visit to London would be incomplete without an authentic pub experience, and The Hansom Cab in the vibrant Kensington / Earl's Court area offers just that. A gem nestled in the heart of the city, The Hansom Cab is more than your traditional British pub, it's an exemplary testament to timeless British hospitality.
The first thing that strikes you about The Hansom Cab is the fantastic variety of beers. From classic ales to innovative craft beers, the pub ensures each brew is kept in prime condition. No doubt, beer lovers will find this haven a delightful treat.
Food is an integral part of a pub visit and The Hansom Cab triumphs in this area. The fish and chips, a traditional British fare, is a star dish. Expertly battered fish with a light, crispy exterior and succulent, flaky fish inside, is a gastronomic delight not to be missed. This is served alongside a generous portion of chips, so perfectly cooked they're a delicacy on their own.
The pub offers an extremely comfortable outdoor seating area, providing a pleasant space to enjoy London's often fleeting summer sun. Moreover, The Hansom Cab caters to sports enthusiasts with several television screens, that the staff will gladly tune to your choice of sporting event. During our visit, we had the pleasure of watching Wimbledon tennis, adding to the unique charm of our British pub experience.
However, what truly sets The Hansom Cab apart from its peers is the extraordinary team of staff, led by an outstanding manager. They are welcoming, diligent, and go above and beyond to ensure guests have a memorable experience. A case in point: forgetting my expensive camera at the pub, only to have the manager himself run a quarter of a mile down the street to return it to me. This act of kindness, while exceptional, is indicative of the high standards of service that The Hansom Cab maintains.
It's evident that The Hansom Cab is more than just a pub; it's a place that genuinely cares about its customers. Their outstanding service, coupled with excellent food and drink offerings, make it a must-visit spot in London. Indeed, The Hansom Cab's excellent reputation is not merely a result of chance, but a reflection of their consistent commitment to delivering a quality experience for their guests.
This is British hospitality at its finest. Whether you're a local or a tourist, I wholeheartedly recommend The Hansom Cab for an unforgettable London...

This pub sits on the corner of picturesque Pembroke Square and Earls Court Road and is just a ten minute walk from High St Ken tube to get here. . The beer choice was good and I decided on a pint Mahou which is becoming more readily available these days. My pint was decent and at just over six quid was in line with the area. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the charming, traditional decor, which combines the warmth of a classic British pub with a touch of modern flair. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable, making it the perfect spot for both a casual drink or a more substantial meal.
The menu is varied, offering a great selection of classic pub fare alongside some more contemporary dishes. I opted for the fish and chips, and I was not disappointed. The fish was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—served with a generous portion of golden, perfectly seasoned chips. The selection of ales and beers is also impressive, with something to suit every taste.
What really stood out, however, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that all of our needs were met without being intrusive. They clearly take pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the experience.
