🚇 Elephant & Castle 🍺 £5.70 Four Pure Lager ❤️ A top notch SE17 backstreet boozer. . The Huntsman & Hounds is located in a quiet backstreet in Walworth not far from the Old Kent Road. The nearest Tube is Elephant & Castle which is a fifteen minute walk. . This pub was built in 1876 by Charrington’s, for a long time it served the local community until it closed its doors when the landlord died in 2013. The pub was sold in 2014 for residential development upstairs, but the developer conceded that a pub will be retained. The pub reopened in August 2016 and is now operated by Market Taverns. . The decor here is contemporary and stylish with the beautiful servery being the standout feature, and rightly so. The seating is a mix of low level tables and chairs plus a few chesterfields for good measure. There is a actively used dart board and a Piano for those who can tinkle the ivories. . The beer selection is craft focused and supports local London breweries. There were eight keg, two cask and an extensive bottled range to choose from. I decided on a pint of Four Pure lager, a local Bermondsey brewer, my pint was good and not overly priced. The food here is panini’s, there is a few varieties to choose from which are all made behind the bar. . I arrived around 5pm in to relaxed and convivial environment. There were around ten or so punters in who were mid twenties to thirties but definitely not indigenous. The England v France six nations rugby game was on which had most of us engaged. I really enjoyed the vibe here and the staff were great. There is entertainment throughout the month, keep an eye out on socials for Live music and DJ nights. . The @huntsmanhoundspub is an excellent pub that offers its punters a fantastic pub experience, I am testament to that, I really enjoyed my visit here. The incredible staff at the Huntsman & Hounds made our engagement party so so special, they were instantly on hand to help us set up when we arrived and gave a brilliant service all throughout the night. They asked us what music we wanted to have played and were extremely responsive to all our song requests, and even got a more dance-type vibe going later into the night when they turned on the disco lights and turned up the tunes! Everyone had such an amazing time and constantly sang the praises of the pub. It's such a lovely cute setting as well and the drinks are so good and great value! We will definitely recommend the Huntsman & Hounds to family and friends and will be returning for any future...

Went to a live comedy night in this really small pub. The comedy was great. Pity about the pub... it's an odd layout; only one room a lot of which is taken up by the bar. It feels cramped. The loos are downstairs and there's a large area of unused space there. I understand this layout is result of the rest of the building being redeveloped into residential but on condition the pub was retained. It feels like a compromise. Also doesn't feel cared for ( dead houseplants, dusty decor and missing light bulbs). Hope things get better as the comedy was great and I'd happily come...
