The only positive thing I’ll have to say about this restaurant was the food itself; my order was fine but a friend of mine got a stomach ache from it.
The menu was confusing to read. How it’s formatted was all over the place.
For example the front menu I had a hard time figuring out what was part of the main meal course and wasn’t because of where the words were placed. Even the prices I had almost missed it where they placed it.
Another example is some items like the samosas weren’t specific with its quantity or that it would be server with salad dressing. The menu was unnecessarily repeated multiple times, and between the front and back menu I’d prefer they formatted everything like the back of the menu.
The prices are a scam. For example the main menu course what they don’t tell you is that they’ll charge you extra for things that doesn’t need to be charged extra, like the rice or even the naan at the start.
I always make sure to calculate what I’m about to order so it doesn’t go over my budget, so imagine my surprise when I found out the rice was charged extra.
It feels they are intentionally vague with what they put out so they can surprise you with an extra charge when its time to pay for the bills.
The customer service was rather strange. They weren’t exactly rude but they weren’t warm and friendly either- they were basically passive aggressive. Any clarifications we asker about the menu it felt like either they themselves didn’t know or they were withdrawing information from us. They also kept giving us these weird stares and I had no idea why. And when it was time to pay for the bill they expected us to calculate our prices and then once we finally did they’d say to me “are you sure?”.
They collected our food too early for my liking. I don’t think they asked if we were finished, atleast for me they just took it despite seeing my tikka wasnt finished.
There were also flies surrounding us and I had to keep swatting it away.
This is the type of restaurant you attend once and never come back. Until you sort out your menu formatting, prices and customer service your restaurant will remain relatively empty and possibly bankrupt. Please do...
Read moreFirstly, I was really surprised at how below standard the food was. I also think items on the menu that have dairy in them and do not have the symbol is also extremely misleading (sag aloo and a few other curry dishes) and dangerous to those with allergies. Even the pilau rice they couldn't confirm that this wouldn't have dairy and said best to order boiled rice. I think if you have a restaurant it is important that your menu reflects allergens rather than having to have a separate conversation with the waiter which then rules out most items on the menu. I ordered 1 curry, 2 side dishes and a rice and a bottle of water which came to £50 which is quite expensive for something that doesn't taste nice and most was left (which waiting staff didn't even notice.) I agree with other customers that the waiting staff weren't very hospitable or welcoming (I don't mind them laughing and talking in their own language at all) but the paying customer comes first and a 'hello, welcome' and a smile costs nothing. I actually make better curry at home which says a lot as you don't expect that to be the case when walking into an Indian restaurant - I was in the area staying local which was the reason for coming here. Finally, having read the replies from management to other customers I'm frankly shocked, this is incredibly rude; you have insulted each person who has fed back - one you have accused of drinking alcohol and being ill rather than your food, another you've told them to get English lessons and another you have accused of potentially suing you - this is a very...
Read moreMy dining experience at "India 2 Best of the City" restaurant was a mix of delightful flavors and a few areas that could be improved. The meal began on a high note with the mixed platters of starters. The chicken was particularly impressive, boasting a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. The mutton kebab also stood out with its well-marinated taste.
Moving on to the main course, the keema Nan and garlic Nan were a bit underwhelming compared to the starters. They were decent in taste but didn't quite reach the same level of satisfaction. The Chicken Tikka masala, while well-cooked, leaned towards a sweeter profile that might not suit everyone's palate. The lamb curry, on the other hand, was a winner for me. Its medium spice level provided a satisfying kick, and the flavors were well-balanced.
However, the chicken biryani was a disappointment. I had high hopes, but it ended up tasting more like flavored rice mixed with curry than an authentic biryani. The lack of distinct layers of flavors and the absence of aromatic spices left much to be desired.
In conclusion, "India 2 Best of the City" offered a range of experiences with its dishes. While some, like the chicken starters and the lamb curry, left a positive impression, others, such as the chicken biryani, fell short of expectations. With a bit more attention to consistency and authenticity, the restaurant could elevate its dining experience to a more consistent level...
