All Bar One Moorgate — Restaurant in London

Appallingly slow service for how empty the place was and how many staff were stood around doing not very much, especially for the extortionate price. Ordered a plate of nachos for myself and my sister to share, thinking they won’t take more than 15-20 minutes as it wasn’t busy and they’re nachos, which don’t usually take long. They took over 45 minutes (!!!!) to arrive, by the time they did my sister had to leave to catch her train home so I was left to eat them on my own, and given I had spent £10.50 on them I was going to get my moneys worth. When they did arrive, they had clearly been left under the heater for a long time - the plate was burning hot, the dips were boiling hot - so much that the guacamole had turned brown and formed a sort of weird cooked crust. The cheese had clearly been melted some time ago as it had all congealed/gone hard, as someone who was a waitress for years it’s very clear to me when food has been left under the heater for too long - something I was always taught not to do with nachos! It’s better that the cheese goes cold but the dips are still at least edible. I would forgive this if it was busy but it was virtually empty and the staff had been all stood at the bar doing mostly nothing, clearly not bothering to check the kitchen for a long time - my guess would be the nachos were ready for over five or even ten minutes before they were actually brought out given the state they were in. Only reason I’m leaving 2 stars is that the flavours were okay when I did finally get to eat the food but I couldn’t finish them as the nachos themselves were over fried, and the dips didn’t taste good hot apart from the salsa. We booked All Bar One Moorgate for my mum’s surprise 60th birthday, and I have to say, the service was absolutely amazing from start to finish!

I first popped in on Monday and was assisted by Tania, who was incredibly helpful in finding the best spot to hide our guests for the surprise. She was 100% right; the back corner of the restaurant is the perfect hiding place (Tip: Bring the guest of honour through the main road entrance for the best effect.)

Being a bit of an over-planner, I dropped by again on Wednesday to check if we could bring balloons and a cake. That’s when I met Josh, who is an absolute legend! He went above and beyond to make sure everything would be perfect for the big night.

Then came mums birthday; I made the mistake of dropping off the cake during their peak hours (totally on me), but the staff handled it so well, kindly asking me to wait before putting everything away safely. Later that evening, when I arrived with my mum, even I was blown away, they had reserved a small roped off section just for us, complete with a Happy Birthday sign for my mum. and as soon as we settled in, Keisha brought out the cake, and Josh followed with the prosecco, it was the perfect !!!

This wasn't a terrible experience but it was pretty bad. Our full order was taken very fast and the drinks arrived very shortly afterwards but it all went downhill from there. We waited 45 minutes for our lunch and in this time another server didn't know our order had been taken and tried to take it again. We ordered nachos and chicken quesadillas. We got an apology for our wait and a free coffee which was nice. When the food arrived we weren't very impressed I expected 'quesa'dillas to have cheese in/on them but there was none and they were burnt. The sweet potato fries were nice though. The nachos were strange, again there was a lack of cheese, however they were not terrible. I then asked a server for the bill and waited ten minutes then asked another server and waited ten minutes, still no bill, then asked a third server who eventually printed it for us. We left the money on the table on top of the bill and left, only for the server to run out onto the street and ask if we had paid. I'm sure it would have made sense for him to check our table for the money while he was running past it, before assuming we hadn't paid. The servers weren't rude but the overall experience and service was disappointing.
