Following a delightfully boozy dinner party with friends on Friday night, Mrs. Flavour and I awoke with more than a hint of a hangover each. Fortunately, there’s a hot new venue just down the road and I can’t think of a better pick me up than several pints of tank fresh beer and a dirty great burger. The Long Arm Pub and Brewery on Worship street has got it nailed! We entered this snazzy saloon-like bar and swaggered past the reclaimed wooden tables like thirsty outlaws. Our eyes were drawn to the massive shiny beer tanks that dominate the far-right corner of the space. Long Arm pride themselves on having a zero-carbon footprint, as the beer is brewed and drunk on the same spot. I for one couldn’t wait to sample that freshness and the charming bar staff were very obliging. We were offered some tasters of their intriguingly titled brews. The zesty Lucky Penny had a refreshingly light and fruity taste, an instant favourite with the Mrs. I however consider any beer with less than 5% alcohol content to be as welcome as an Ed Sheeran cameo. As delicious as Lucky Penny was, I needed something manlier that’ll put hairs on your chest (Mrs. Flavour’s note: – Why are you writing like it’s the 1970’s?). The bartender directed me to an intriguing black lager with a malty tang. I then sampled a bold dark beer flavoured with cookies and chocolate, which was every bit as delicious as it sounds. Plus, the 6% of alcohol was a winner in my book. We took our tankards of fresh brew towards the pool table, for a couple of frames and a peek at the menu. Mrs Flavour and I are big fans of a pub game and the lure of the red baized American size pool table was too much to resist. I racked them up as my good lady ordered up a couple of small plates to fuel the competition. I think the highlight of my weekend was the point at which the braised short rib croquette landed on my palette. This hot, crispy coated morsel of deliciousness is crammed with the softest, juiciest strands of prime beef. I was so overwhelmed by its meaty majesty that I completely miscued my next shot (Mrs Flavour’s note: – Nothing to do with that beer then?). The crispy squid rings were worth sitting back down for and the comforting richness of the mac and cheese croquettes were more than enough to console the fact that I was clearly losing the game at this point. Time for more beer! The Long Arm pub has a pleasingly varied selection of 5 burgers and one dog, catering for vegetarians, pescatarians and greedy buggers like me who crave tons of meat. Unsurprisingly, Mrs Flavour opted for the suitably titled Dirty Bird (Mrs. Flavour’s note: – You’re this close to getting a slap). Her crunchy coated chicken burger came with an IPA OK Honey mustard sauce, which certainly stacked it above anything the Colonel churns out. I selected the cheekily named Build That Wall Burger, a meaty covfefe of juicy beef patty and chipotle jalapeno and red bean chilli which was fit for a President. If the burgers in Mexico taste this good, I know which side of the wall I’d like to be on. A few more beers and a side of crisp onion rings meant I really didn’t care that my wife was clearly whuppin’ my ass on the pool table. As we nestled into the comfy leather furniture and sipped some of the finest craft beers we’d tasted in a while, our hangovers became but a distant memory. The welcoming atmosphere and mouth-watering food at Long Arm filled us with a new lease of life and we were once again craving the excitement of a warm London evening.

As I dragged my weary Reebok classics through the streets between the swanky tall glass-fronted tech hubs and office blocks around Worship Street, I started to regret not going straight in to the first Gregg's I saw in Liverpool Street station. I was straight off the Stanstead Express from the airport where my Ryanair flight from Dublin slammed down. I came across a street food market nearby that set my stomach rumbling but the Irish tricolour I painted over the union Jack on my runners seemed to have spurted new energy into my stride; almost as if they knew an Irish red ale and an incredible deal were nearby. That's exactly what I found in the Long Arm. A burger and a pint for a tenner. Where would you get it? Not even in that place where Ronald wears the giant shoes. It's a lunchtime deal that restored my faith in craft beer places and the capital of England. The pint was a reminder of the home I only left 3 hours ago and the beautiful little burger even came with hot chips. God, don't bother with the king but for your own sake save this £10 deal in the Long Arm on Worship Street!

Craft beers were nice, good spot to watch sport, and great that the shuffle board was free to play. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a let down, £11 for 10 wings, but as you can see from the photo the wings were the smallest I've ever seen. Regards to service, the menu stated the wings come with a blue cheese or ranch dip and celery sticks, neither came with the wings, and when I asked the staff, they said I should have informed them of the sauce I want when ordering, and will bring it out to me shortly. 10 minutes later, whilst my tiny wings were getting cold, I had to ask again, I eventually got the dip only, and didn't bother asking for a third time for the celery sticks. They did only have 2 staff on the floor so may have been understaffed.

Possibly the worst food I've paid to eat in a long time.

Me and two friends came here to watch some football, grab a few drinks and dinner, what a mistake this was.

Firstly we ordered some sharing platters, the chicken wings and nachos, I also tried to order a cider to have with this, but apparently the bar did not have any in stock that day, extremely confusing for a bar to run out of all ciders, but I brushed it off and ordered a different drink.

The chicken wings, which I think they must have been mistakenly advertised, because what was provided certainly did not constitute wings. I can only describe them as tiny bones with skin, appalling for the price. The nachos which were also advertised as sharing platter, were the equivalent weight of a small packet of walkers crisps, against over priced for the amount of food.

As the sharing platters were so small, I can only describe them as sharing platters for children, I decided to order a hot dog, again instantly regretted that decision when presented with my main course. When I took a bite out of the bun the moisture was instantly stolen from my mouth (I guess a cider would have been nice to replenish the lost fluid) the bun tasted like it had been left outside in the sun for days, and was completely stale. I'm confused how an establishment can survive with such lack of quality food.

To top off the night, we all attempted to order desert, as we thought it can't get any worse than the previous orders, oh how we were wrong.... The bar again advised us that there were also no deserts available, this was despite three being advertised on their menu.

Overall, pretty shocking experience, it would have been great if you would have advised the products you did not have available prior to us ordering and spending nearly £150 between the three of us.

You couldn't pay me to return to this bar, and I would recommend that the management seriously take a look at their kitchen staff and...

Look here is the situation, when it opened 2017(ish) I came in by accident with one of my closest craft beer loving friends

Today, 8 years later I remembered and I came back. An easy walk through the Montcalm Hotel lobby or via the front doors

In the early eve you can work and coffee and eat wicked awesome burgers….. but it’s the beer, (try the CAMRA winning Shadow Wolf or the Righr Arm Rye - Jason (brewmaster) is playing HARD

I sit here now Chirag, Georgina and Amelie are living their best life telling the stories of the beers, taste tearing me for preference and then HOPPY HOUR kicks in 5-7 - as a fellow of the customer experience foundation - game knows game and these folks know their stuff

Everyone here is about service and giving excellence to your pallet, through the sadly now rare experience of listening and testing whilst guiding us, the customers.

However, There is no better craft beer bar in this part of London (Moorgate is the nearest station)

But the people who want you to try and live, and laugh, and smile? The team here make it.

Don’t try this place at your...
