I went here a week ago to order a drink.. They have no warnings about their card machines that are hanging over the bat reading people's phones and just cause I had it in my hand I was randomly charged someone else's drink. They told me they have reversed the transaction and that I should wait a few days to get my money back. Conveniently they don't hold cash, so irrespective I will have to wait for my money to be processed. Ridiculous to start with! A week has gone by and I still haven't received it. I had to attend in person to follow up and they obviously kept me waiting. I'm already fuming over the amount of time I had to spend on their mistake and me being unable to get my money back that they took unauthorized! They said they have to "investigate" and a woman called me asking me to send them a screenshot of proof of the transaction as they can't even find it in their own system. I told her that online banking apps are not allowing screenshots and I simply have no additional time to spend dealing with their mess up and it's been a week and I want my money! She had absolutely no empathy about my frustration and just kept repeating that "she is trying to help and if don't send a screenshot she can't" no apology for the hassle they are causing or any remorse over their mistake! Instead she is arguing with me that it's the first time it happened in her 4 years and it's my fault for having my phone in my hand when I approached their bar! Their card machines are hanging over the bar so this has absolutely happened before and they are perhaps counting on people not noticing it! Avoid this place , there are plenty of other options in the area! For clarity before you respond with your genetic "sorry to hear this" this is in Shoreditch and no I will not spend another minute emailing you people with feedback as it's literally written here in black and...
Read moreGreat experience! I booked a night out for my team before Christmas at their Islington venue, and we booked a table for Valentines in Shoreditch. Our visit wasnât the worst but it could have been better. Itâs not clear where you need to go to check in, thereâs a small sign along the side of the bar where you need to go. We were shown to our table downstairs but a very young woman who I can only describe as bland in her customer service taste. The games were easy to understand and play and we had a great time. We decided to order a sharing pizza, which took about 15 minutes to arrive. We were seated directly infront of the kitchen pass so to see our pizza there waiting for 5 minutes under a heat lamp whilst several team members just walked passed was a little annoying. As you could guess, the food arrived cold and very burnt around the edges. The base tasted of nothing more than the tomato product they use. Definitely couldnât taste the likes of basil, oregano salt or pepper. We opted for two beers, but I was told Peroni wasnât available on draught only by bottle (apparantly the menu was wrong) which was ÂŁ1 more. Price isnât an issue but the deliverance was.
Overall the concept is great, and the venue looked incredible. Perhaps happier staff, with quicker service and an awareness of their surrounds would have made Valentines a little better.
UPDATE: Iâve chosen not to respond to the feedback request by the owner, and also knocked off another star. The fact their response was very generic where they asked what branch I visited shows the lack of customer service is company wide. Iâve reviewed the Shoreditch venue, along with stating that in the first 3 lines of...
Read moreCame for a quick drink and a bite to cap off what was already a terrific evening. Maybe it was because it was kind of (not really) late and there werenât many other places open (aside from the first place we tried across the street who told us the kitchen was closed even though they were open for another 3 hours) but the place was packed! And it was loud. I guess technically it was a darts place and so there was a lot of excitement near the dartboard area. The bar staff were all buzzing about shaking their shakers and pouring drinks. It was a great vibe - apropos for a Friday night. Ok we got the little bit lychee drink (subbed vodka for gin) which was excellent with what looked like a dark dahlia floating on top. I wanted to try a British beer and got the magic rock saucery session pale ale (saying its name is like a built in sobriety test). The ale was definitely IPA but with a really clean finish. And because Iâm a pig, ordered the fries with truffle cheese. Wow that was so so good! Shoestring fries with a heavy drizzle of truffle melted cheese. I canât really complain about the super loud music since it probably suited the main clientele and was really good (club versions of many 80s songs). So it looks like a really fun joint for the young locals with some older folks who maybe stumbled in like we did. Really nice bartenders and front staff. Thanks for not giving us a BS line to keep us out like the...
