Alright hear me now, the joint is one of the restaurants in Brixton Village that piqued my interest so when my friends wanted to out to eat, and asked me to pick a place I knew exactly where I wanted to go. It’s a small restaurant with some outside seating like majority of restaurants there. We had really friendly service from Lama who recommended I tried the hot barbecue pork ribs. As my friends decided to sing-a-long to the music playing on the speakers I got lunch and a show. I had the lunch time deal of a burger and fries for £10; I got the bj burger and fries which is a good deal since the burger by itself is £10. The Bj burger The burger was visually simplistic, bun was toasted perfectly soft top bun and bottom bun firm and toasted just right to to the point the burger sauce didn’t make the burger soggy. The juices from the meat did leak out a bit but it didn’t ruin the structure of the burger. The medium cooked beef patties were done perfectly, seasoned wonderfully and melt in your mouth. The sauce in it elevated the burger to heights which I was genuinely shocked, joyful and excited for the next bite. The smoked pork belly did add different texture to the burger as it had more bite to it which did briefly interrupt the harmony in my mouth but it came with the flavour that was a whole symphony of excellence cultivating on my palate. The easiest way I can describe it is transcendent. There’s a special place in my heart for burgers like this as in my opinion it is very easy to get a beef burger wrong but this was done so right I was experiencing pure bliss that I finished it before the fries and ribs came out. 9.5/10 Fries were alright nothing special they were decent fries crispy and fluffy inside, decent potato content but no salt on it, the sweet potato fries were actually quite good though which I was happy about because they are quite easy to get wrong. I now understood why only these fries were part of the lunch deal but they were perfectly edible. 5/10 hot bbq ribs The meat it self was cooked brilliantly, soft tender meat that pulled of the bone with elegance. However, I originally wanted to order the Korean ribs as I had heard that they were really good but I listened to Lama and his recommendation which I regret as I wasn’t really a fan of the sauce I couldn’t really put my finger on what I didn’t like about it, it just wasn’t for me, the quality was really good though so I will probably try a different flavour the next time I go. 5.7/10 Overall this was an excellent culinary experience from the little show I got from my friends, excellent service from Lama and the incredible burger. 9/10 Check out my Instagram for more food reviews:sjtalks_

The Joint... is the joint to be at if you want a lovely afternoon breakfast in the middle of busy brixton but in the cosy brixton village, I went with my family for a little bday lunch & the staff made use feel soo welcomed. Small but roomy as the kitchen is on another site in view of the restaurant, we enjoyed watching them pop over to the kitchen for something or the other. I would definitely recommend & would visit again. Costs were reasonable too! Also always a good idea to book just incase so your guaranteed seating. Make sure to have a go & leave a message on their writing wall! Thanks "the Joint" a time was had!

Dinner here last night - £6 happy hour cocktails til 7pm (v good espresso martinis), pulled pork burger and chips. Staff (Noah & karma) were so friendly and attentive. Food was amazing (only slight improvement the pork could’ve been a bit hotter but no biggie). The raclette chips looked insane - the table next to us had them but we’d already ordered). Booked the day before via the fork and got a surprise 20% off (all the dinner bookings had this so defo book in advance if having dinner!). Would 10/10 recommend. Ambience inside was really nice too on a cold autumn night!

Make sure you check your receipt before you pay! We came in for a meal and when we had paid for the meal I thought it was a bit pricey. I asked for a receipt but gave up waiting as we had to be somewhere in hurry. I added it all up when I got home and it appears I was overcharged by £30 and when I emailed the manager about it I was told that the new system adds the drinks twice. I Challenged this as the extra charge wasn’t twice the amount of the drinks. I asked for a copy of the receipt and the extra charge wasn’t on the dated receipt. So the extra £30 was manually added to the total on the card reader and in fact not an error with the new system adding drinks twice. This will be argued but the receipt date was accurate and Cannot be changed at a later date. When I asked the manager to refund my card and also refund my service charge I was told that the new system doesn’t do refunds. Again, I challenged this when I called the manager and he then admitted that the new system can process refunds but he wasn’t sure as it’s only 3 days old. Odd as I have never heard of a card terminal or Epos system that cannot process refunds. I got my money back in the end but not happy about being overcharged in the first place. No matter what argument comes back , nothing that I was told added up and I feel like the extra charge was not human error or an error on the system as I was told. I was polite, patient and calm when I brought this up with the manager but I couldn’t help feel that he was rather arrogant and dismissive when coming up with different excuses as to why this happened. Personally, as a manager myself I would have been more apologetic and honest . He kept changing the story everytime his story didn’t prove to be true and it just didn’t wash. Anyway the food was ok. I didn’t have the burger but my mates said they were nice. Service was very slow and food came out at separate times over about 25 mins. We had all eaten our burgers by the time the fries arrived. They were apologetic as the cheese fries take a while to prepare. As a chef of 30 years I can tell you There are ways around this so no excuse for 25 min wait. Also, Not as good as the instagram reviews made out. Cheap frozen chips rather than fresh. Not bad for the money though. The hallumi burger was 6-10. Not bad. Not sure I’ll...

A 1 hour 20 minutes wait for a mediocre burger.

Simply the WORST service I have ever experienced in my life. We booked a table only for them to not have a table when we arrived. The server then opted to fold out a table in the walkway, without any heaters near it on a cold night. We opted to wait a little longer for a table indoors. 15 minutes after arrival, we were finally seated.

When it came to TRYING to order our food I had to walk to the bar and get the server's attention. She said that she would take our order at our table, in which we had been waiting for 20 minutes since sitting down for anyone to come over and serve us. We finally placed our order and asked for water, to which that never came, and again, I had to go and get this myself...(this place may as well be self service!) The "indoor" seating had no heaters either, and even though I was in a jacket, jumper and t-shirt, I was freezing.

Then, when the food FINALLY came, it was mediocre at best. The burger at £10 can be compared to a Big Mac quite honestly. It was also lukewarm which just sums up how woeful of a place and experience eating here is/was.

We even had to wait 10 minutes at the end to pay and once again had to seek a member of staff out. They tried to incorrectly bill us 3 times, to which I had to correct their calculations multiple times.

They had ONE server, completely understaffed, underwhelming food, over priced food, burgers don't come with chips so you have to pay even more for fries, no heating, shocking service.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE 2...
