- unwashed bedding and towels - torn curtain - a layer of dust on the windows, an unwashed, dried green stain on the threshold of the room - dirty walls in the room - toilet not washed - very little choice for breakfast, cold fried eggs (as if you couldn't mount a small heater under the dish) - in the room noisy late in the evening. The hotel is above a pub As a result of a mistake, someone else was accommodated in the room assigned to us in the system (I saw it on the monitor at the reception). When assigning us another room, we heard that all rooms look the same and there are no major differences between them. That was the first time we were lied to, because the room differed significantly from the photos of the rooms that appear on the booking. In addition, in the morning, when the cleaning lady was cleaning the room assigned to us in the system, I saw that it was much nicer and bigger. When we talked about it with the manager the next day, he of course apologized to us and advised us that after submitting a complaint through booking, he would be able to give us back some of the money. After submitting a complaint, I received information from customer service that The Kings Arms object does not agree to financial compensation - we were also lied to for the second time (actually cheated). It seems like we paid more for a cheaper, dirty room and we weren't even reimbursed for it. If we knew what this room and bathroom look like in reality, we would look for another place.

Sunday Roast We went to the kings arms to mix it up a bit to our usual local sunday roast so we decided to go to the kings arms. The food was decent and even though its not self service they do give you a hefty amount of food on your plate. Everything was perfect the staff were kind, polite and helpful. The meat was good except for the beef which was a little chewy. Only problem I have is with the potatoes which were frozen potatoes which made them taste just not the same. If I'm having sunday roast I expect a roasted potato with a crispy outside.

Nothing better on a Sunday in late November, after a super long walk with friends, than having lunch out before going back to snooze in front of a fire. A flying visit to the UK (first time back since 2015) & how lovely to find a "child & dog friendly" pub whose staff were great & food was excellent... I took the photo of the plate of food to send to my young stepdaughter back home in Mallorca as she absolutely LOVES a good roast with all the trimmings.... especially mashed swede.... Wonderful pub!

We arrived by car and called ahead to check if parking was available, this pub has 4 parking spaces available but 8 rooms, so first come basis. We were informed it was and to drive round. Unfortunately the member of staff failed to tell us that The Grove had entry restrictions for cars due to schools at the time we were arriving. On ringing the pub to complain after the PCN notice had arrived a week later the same member of staff I spoke to knew all about these restriction and started to tell me it was because of the schools. This information was not provided in the how to arrive by car instructions sent in advance. So what was meant to be a budget B&B turned out to be an expensive B&B due to a £65 fine from Ealing Council which could have been avoided. BEWARE!||The room we had was basic but adequate for one night. Getting to the room involved three flights of stairs. a friendly member of staff did helpfully carry my bag up. Room was quiet, clean, bed was comfortable. Bathroom sink was tiny. the room was lit by one ceiling light and had sash windows (which thankfully didn't rattle) and an original fireplace. It was warm. No hairdryer in the room but thankfully I had one with me.||The next morning it was -2C outside and the breakfast room was rather cold . The staff informed me that the manager comes in later and turns the heating on. We did not linger...
