🚇 Plaistow 🍺 £4.20 Carlsberg A Friendly and Welcoming Plaistow Pub. The Lord Stanley is located at the northern end of Plaistow in the Borough of Newham. The nearest Tube is Plaistow, Upton Park Tube is also close by. The original pub on this site dates back to 1870, this later rebuild looks interwar built. This is a large bright and airy two bar pub. At the centre of the pub is a horseshoe shaped servery with a solid wood counter. The bar on the left has three pool tables, a large TV and some signed footy shirts above the servery including an England shirt signed by Jimmy Greaves. The bar on the right is a little cosier and is carpeted throughout. There is a large projector screen, a stage for live music and karaoke nights plus a Fives Dartboard which is a rare find in an East End pub these days. The beer line was straightforward keg options that are popular with the locals. I decided on a pint of Carlsberg, my pint was excellent and cost just over four quid. This is a Wet-Led pub that doesn’t serve food. We arrived around 2pm on a mild Friday afternoon in February. There was a good mix of locals in attendance who were gathered around the bar. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed, the punters were welcoming and friendly and eager to have a chat. The lady behind the ramp was also friendly, we were made to feel very welcome. It is well documented that West Ham moving to Stratford has pretty much put a nail in the coffin of all but a few pubs in this part of London. The Lord Stanley is hanging in there and hopefully endures. This is a friendly locals pub that looks after its punters both personally and in their pockets. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 23.02.24

A great backstreet pub, one for the locals, great people. A really welcoming, down to earth place to visit. Pool looks like a big thing here with three tables in the front bar. A stage in the back for live music. Plenty of keg beer but not for the cask enthusiasts. My memory will be of great people welcoming a stranger, thanks.

The pub is RACIST PUB.Last Saturday night,I went there with a white friend of mine, there was a karaoke going on and when we arrived at the door at 12:40am we asked the doorman if the pub was still open and the doorman allowed us in.First,I went to the Karaoke DJ to request a song, but he told me to come back because he was singing then. Then I went to join my mate who was already waiting at the bar and we ordered drinks and to my greatest surprise the woman behind the bar told us the bar is closed. But a white customer came and she happily served him. When I confronted her,she said to me oh the customer has been inside. The Doorman already told us before we went in that the bar closes at 12:50am.Its disgusting that RACISM and SEGREGATION is still happening in London and in East London of all places. This is sad, very sad.I plan to pursue this issue with the relevant authorities and have that pub shut down and I won't rest until I achieve my GOALS.This is completely...
