After repeated visits over the years, I thought I would give an update. You’re only as good as your last performance! ;-)
Overall, the Nest, Cafe-Bar-Restaurant-Caterer, is a great place to find delicious international flavours to suit all discerning tastebuds. Most of the fresh food on the menu is sourced locally and prepared in-house. A huge choice to suit all diets, including Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten-free. Oh, and the sausages from the GingerPig are the best for miles around. One of the main differences here is the presentation of the food — creative and colourful, with great attention to small details. Their porridge mixes are arguably the best in London. Just superb! Here you can indulge, eat very healthy, eat according to restricted diets, and be guaranteed of great tasty dishes.
A very beautiful, interior-designed (?) setting with warm tropical colours and plenty of light, individual and comfortable seating areas, and soft furnishings combine to create an eclectic cosy and chilled vibe where you soak up the atmosphere whilst enjoying their tasty breakfasts, brunches and lunches. It can get busy here, especially at the weekends, so reserve or come very early.
And the coffees and cakes? &Feast, a little down the road has yet to be beaten on this front, though Nest are probably in 2nd place with regard to coffee taste, and further behind with the cakes - not enough of them, and just not enough variety. Notwithstanding this, the Loyalty card for coffees, is a nice bonus, and they do offer lactose-free options.
The service has improved over the years, and is getting closer to consistently good. It still can be hit and miss, but worth the patronage as the pros far outweigh the cons. It’s both child and animal-friendly, it’s Barnes after all!
Give it a try, then another try, and then another, and then make up your mind.

Having had brunch & coffee there a few times (mushrooms on toast are superb), I then had dinner there which was also delicious (always with amazing service).
So when myself and my friend were planning our 30th birthday and enquired at The Nest, it shouldn't have surprised me that the service & quality we got were equally impressive. Kathryn & the team made everything easy from start to finish, with an excellent selection of canapes & cocktails for us to choose from, as well as organising live music, and all of the smaller details from setting up and tidying up the venue with flowers & candles, to accommodating all dietary requirements and making all of our guests feel so at ease & well-looked after.
Everyone commented on what a fantastic venue it was, how good the food was, how great the singer was (thanks Emilios) and what a lovely evening they had so I can safely say, there are a few more Nest fans after Saturday night! Thanks Kathryn and all of the others who made our party such a...
Read moreWe walked in on a Sunday 12pm (parked along the side roads as it was free, 2min walk).
The cafe was really busy but spatious, so the waiting time was only 10-15mins. The staff were really friendly, however they took some time to provide us with a menu and take our order.
Love the way they had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. We went for the vegetarian nest breakfast, it had vegan sausages, jam on the sourdough and generous portion of eggs. Was tasty but would’ve preferred without the jam. I liked the touch of Edamame and sesame on top.
I ordered a decaff cuccupino with almond milk and it was really tasty! Presentation was great and we ended up spending 3 hours chilling, eating and catching up. Although the cafe was busy, there wasn’t a single moment where we felt rushed to leave, it was a nice environment.
This place is also dog and child friendly with different types of seating (sofa, chairs, tables etc). Quite an aesthetic...
