Base Face Pizza Barnes — Restaurant in London

After dining here over 50 times with my family in the past two years, our most recent visit was deeply disappointing, and we will not be returning. The atmosphere was chaotic, with staff’s children running around the restaurant, including near diners’ tables. The food was overpriced and underwhelming, and we were left sitting with empty plates for over 40 minutes without any service or follow-up. When we raised our concerns politely, the waitress responded confrontationally and placed the blame on us for not having “signalled” that we were finished.

What followed was completely unacceptable: members of the waitress’s family, present throughout the evening, began shouting at us across the restaurant. One even began filming us, and we were ultimately shouted out of the premises in a manner that was both aggressive and deeply unprofessional. In over 20 years of dining out, this stands as the worst customer service experience we’ve encountered. Great pizza, always cooked perfectly and the crust is truly brilliant. You can't really go wrong with whichever pizza you get. Restaurant is nice and clean but rather tiny, so I recommend getting a takeaway and eating by the river, they will usually have your pizza ready within 5 minutes and staff are happy to slice it for you. I'm not sure if I'm imagining things but their chilli oil and black pepper are really great too so make sure to use that if it's your thing.

A couple of personal suggestions for the owner:

Firstly I really enjoy getting a pepperoni and jalapeño but wish it was a regular menu option and/or priced accordingly, since a double salami/pepperoni is £12 but technically pepperoni and jalapeño would run me £14 which seems a bit steep. I suppose I'd like to see the additional topping prices make a bit more sense.

Also the bin near the river is getting full up with pizza boxes at times, perhaps we could be able to return them to the restaurant for disposal...

My partner and I have been coming to Base Face at its Barnes location since the first week it opened and we both agree that it's our favourite pizza of all time, not just in London -- so much so that we're on our 5th loyalty card (buy 9 pizzas and the 10th is free) But tonight, to celebrate our anniversary, we ordered pizzas to be delivered to our flat. We typically order sides of garlic butter to go with our pizzas. It's moreish and the perfect accompaniment to them. This is a plea to the staff and Tim the owner: when being delivered or lined up for collection please do not put the garlic butter in the box with the pizzas as it completely melts and becomes inedible, which is a shame - this sometimes happens with collections aswell.
