🚇 Bermondsey 🍺 £5.20 Cruzcampo
This pub is located next to the Blue Market and shops in Bermondsey, southeast London. The nearest Tube is Bermondsey, on the Jubilee Line.
The pub building originally served as a branch of Midland Bank, which later became HSBC, and dates from around the 1900s. The Old Bank pub opened in 2010 and was originally a bar and carvery. In 2022, three storeys were added, with six flats built above.
This is a one-bar pub that is traditionally decorated. The servery is a good size and stretches down most of the length of the bar. The decor consists of wood panelling, stained glass partitions, raised banquettes, conventional seating, a tiled floor, a few Tv’s and a nicely framed tribute to the Royal Green Jackets. To the side of the pub are several benches for enjoying a pint in the sun.
The beer line-up is a straightforward selection of well-known keg favourites. I opted for a Cruzcampo — my pint was great, price point was just over a fiver. This is a wet-led pub, so it doesn’t serve food, but if you visit on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, there’s a Pie & Mash stall called @the_pie_den located on the market by the benches outside.
I arrived around 1:30 p.m. on a sunny Friday lunchtime in April. There were about a dozen or so regulars in attendance, plotted up both inside and out enjoying a lunchtime pint. The atmosphere was relaxed, with greyhounds and horse racing on in the background, which added a bit of interest. The service was top drawer — the young chap on duty was friendly and chatty. He mentioned how busy the pub gets on Millwall home games and that he loves working there. Love that!
This South Bermondsey boozer was an excellent visit. Even though I wasn’t a local, I received a warm welcome. Regardless of what pub you’re in, it’s the people that make the difference — and that was definitely the case here. Reasonably priced booze, traditional pub surroundings — top pub.

Read moreA proper boozer. It was lively on a sunny Friday afternoon, so had a great atmosphere. Staff were all friendly and lovely. The pints were great value for London too (£5.20 for a Stella).
And it's an odd thing to point out... But I also noticed how clean this pub is. Safe to say that it's immaculate! No sticky tables, the toilets were pristine and the benches/seats didn't feel worn out (can't say the same for a lot of other pubs in the city).
Overall, a great pub. Can't wait to...
