I am not one to write many reviews unless I feel strongly about what I am writing. Well, the Pantry knew this review was on the way. Let me start by saying I am a regular at the Pantry since it was taken over by new management. I am a fair and honest person, so I will and have said before the food is good.
The chef, is always very polite, and he is accommodating to the customer and always serves with a smile.
Now with his partner, the women who is front of house there is a very different story. Many times my partner and I have been met with a cold reception from her. She talks to her staff with disrespect and treats certain select customers with disregard and a very rude attitude.
The last straw when I went in to make my usual order, and she was making the price up (again.) She said the meal would come to X amount. I politely said “last time you charged me X amount?” (Bearing in mind, I get the same thing quite often and last time not being long ago at all.) What happened next shocked and embarrassed me, and I was left very shaken! She responded with a very rude tone and said something along the lines of and what if I charged you that last time the cost of living has gone up, and was rolling her eyes and displaying very negative and confrontational body language. This was in a cafe full of customers. I felt very embarrassed, as I was only asking if the menu price had changed (it had not she just decided again to make up prices and tell me they had changed again for the same order.) I did have to say at one point I did not like how I was being spoken to, and it was quite rude. Yet, the women continued displaying a very ill mannered attitude.
She then proceeded to huff and puff and take the receipt into the kitchen and then ignored me when I said sorry can you repeat my order, and I don’t mind paying the extra. She then carried on talking very rudely and saying no just have it at that price and continued with the her negative body language. I felt very awkward having lunch there. I had my lunch and left.
If this wasn’t enough, I came home to the business instagramming me personally and blocking me off instagram as a follower and saying not to come back to the business. This happened as they knew I would review and wouldn’t be coming back as they know. I normally have left great reviews for them on instagram, so they knew I would post to say what had happened today. In an attempt to silence me they blocked me. However, they can’t stop me from leaving a review to tell customers how poorly I was treated.
What happened today was truly shocking, and I am still deeply upset by the incident and how I was treated as a customer.
What else is fair to say and what I wanted to add and agree with is, the pantry is NOT consistent with opening hours. Many times they claim to be open but are shut resulting in a waste of a lunch break walking to them. When asked they make excuses. When the business first started out there was a lot of effort as time has gone on the Pantry have started to reveal their true colours which is a lack of concern for their customers and their feedback. I think it’s highly unprofessional to treat customers like this then to DM them on their social media’s and further cause them distress.
The business has gone down hill since being a gem of a place due to the terrible customer service front of house provided by the women owner. Manners cost nothing and a lack of them has cost the pantry a loyal customer! I will not be returning, as I already said.
This place does not respect ALL people and treat them with equality, some clientele are favoured over others. Shocking that this is happening. The women owner front of house has no respect for some people in the community. Pantry, you need to reflect on how to value ALL of your customers, as a business is as good as...
Read moreThis place is a hit and miss. Food was delicious and seems the best option for a proper brunch in Plumstead. Good portion sizes. The cafe is small and you may struggle to find a place to sit if it's a large group. The service : the waiting staff was friendly, attentive and pleasant to deal with.
The barista/owner taking orders and making the coffee is perhaps too relaxed and doesn't care about the customer service as they are selling the cafe. After patiently waiting for 10 mins in the queue to pay for my coffee when it was my turn and I was the last one in the queue. this lady turned away, i waited patiently for another 5 mins but i was ignored, this lady just started clearing up the dishwasher, sorting the bills, blatantly ignoring me. No apology was given. The waiting staff then took my payment and I left.
This place was given a hygiene rating of 'one' few years ago and the customers dropped; now it has improved to 5 but they will lose customers with poor...
Read moreWOW!!! I LOVE this place. Firstly, the guys who own it are SUPER friendly, they've always got time for a chat and they're always interested in who you are and what you're up to. The coffee is always great too. But the FOOD???!!! The chef has clearly worked in plenty of kitchens over the years. For such a humble little place, the food is as good as it can be. A sandwich isn't just a sandwich to these guys and you can taste the knowledge and passion in every dish. Even just a portion of chips are EXCEPTIONAL. The little touches that make a difference to your food are in abundance here, the little additions that make you realise someone cares about the food you're eating. And hands down, i had the best cake i've EVER eaten here; an orange and cranberry cake which was so much more than it sounds, again, made by the chef. Put this place in Hackney and these guys would be super stars, i've no doubt about it.
Eat here, you...
