Had a fantastic evening at The Prince of Wales with my girlfriend. This place perfectly balances traditional British pub atmosphere with excellent food. The interior has that cozy, authentic feel you want in a local warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a well-stocked bar. The food here is genuinely impressive. Their fish and chips are some of the best I've had - perfectly crispy batter, fresh fish, and proper chips. The Sunday roast comes highly recommended too (based on what other diners were enjoying). You can tell they take pride in their kitchen.Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Service was prompt even though they were fairly busy. The £10-20 price range is very reasonable for the quality you get - excellent value for money.Great selection of drinks at the bar, and the atmosphere strikes the right balance between lively and relaxed. Perfect for everything from a casual lunch to an evening out with friends.Only small note - it does get busy, especially for Sunday roast, so might be worth booking ahead for peak times. Will definitely be back! A proper pub that does everything right. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality pub food and a...
Read moreNever have I experienced such a rude obnoxious glass clearer by the name of Vernon. (Bald man in 50s)
Went to the game for an England match on Saturday and good old Vernon thought jt would be a great idea to start clearing half full wine glasses.
When we told him we weren’t finished, he proceeded to stand in front of the football and deliberately block the screen. Might I add that this was a key moment of the match- a penalty.
I asked Vernon to kindly move, and he blocked my view further saying “you haven’t won and you’re not going to win”
Quite irritated I said to my friends “who the f is this guy?!”
He then lingered for far too long, sarcastically extended a hand for a disingenuous handshake and then called us a bunch of losers.
There were 14 of us in the pub and before this disgraceful encounter we actually stated how much we enjoyed the pub.
If you can’t be polite to people, do not...
Read moreI was looking for a good local's foodie stop after a long day of wrangling disrupted trains and busses to reach The Imperial War Musuem. Prince of Wales is only a short few blocks down the street, so no need to hop on a bus. Just stop in and find a spot. We were happy to have one of the tables outside on the sidewalk. There was no wait to have our orders taken, and it seemed our supper arrived in the blink of an eye. It was super fast. I had the Sunday Roast beef, while my friend had the Sunday Roast lamb. Everything was just right. I admit I don't understand why there's two potatoes (mashed and roasted) served, but both were really good. Plate also included cauliflower, steamed cabbage, peas, carrots, gravy, and a yorkshire. Price was good too; paid £47 for the two meals plus two beverages. I couldn't have asked for a better a...
