My friends and I were on the hunt for a late-night dining spot and stumbled upon Mercato Metropolitano, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. Our experience there was delightful from start to finish, and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking for great food and a lively atmosphere after hours.

We decided to try a variety of dishes, and ordered Massaman Curry, Steak, Ribs, Chicken, and Chips. Each dish was served promptly and cooked to perfection. The Massaman Curry was a standout with its rich, flavorful sauce and tender pieces of meat. The Steak was juicy and cooked exactly to our liking, while the Ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, with a smoky flavor that was simply irresistible. The Chicken was well-seasoned and moist, and the Chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making for the perfect accompaniment.

The ambiance at Mercato Metropolitano was fun and energetic, making it an ideal spot for a night out. The market-like setting with various food stalls gave us plenty of options and added to the overall experience. We loved the mix of communal seating and the buzz of people enjoying their meals and drinks. It felt like a mini food festival, which added to the excitement of the evening.

One aspect that stood out was the level of security. Even late at night, the place felt very secure, with staff visibly ensuring that everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. This attention to safety allowed us to relax and fully enjoy our dining experience without any concerns.

Here are a few tips for those planning to visit Mercato Metropolitano:

Variety: With so many food stalls, take your time to explore and choose your meal. There’s something for everyone, so consider trying a few different dishes. Timing: It's a great spot for late-night dining, but it can get busy. Arriving a bit earlier might give you more seating options. Group-Friendly: The communal seating is perfect for groups, so bring your friends along for a lively evening out. Security: Feel assured that the place is secure, making it a good choice for those concerned about safety when dining late at night. Must-Try Dishes: The Massaman Curry and Ribs were particularly memorable, so don’t miss out on those!

Overall, Mercato Metropolitano provided us with a wonderful late-night dining experience, combining delicious food, a vibrant atmosphere, and excellent service. We left satisfied and happy, already planning...

Myself, my partner and our friends, all mid-to-late-40s professionals and not drunk, attempted to visit last Friday night but, upon searching my bag, I was told by security I had to throw away my two full plastic bottles of water which I carry with me for medical reasons or I would not be allowed entry. I'm used to this when entering venues so cheerfully offered to empty the bottles and refill them just inside which is standard everywhere, even happy to pay to do this, but no, the unprofessional and borderline aggressive security staff told me I couldn't even take the empty bottles in due to MM's policy of no single use plastic.

I explained patiently I have a medical condition that requires me to sip water regularly but would be buying plenty of food and drink inside, that I had used the bottles hundreds of times previously and that throwing them away would simply result in me having to purchase more for the Tube home and future use, and that the bottles would not remain on the premises, but to no avail. The policy is the policy I was simply told over and over. No logic. No common sense. No critical thinking. No understanding of reasonable adjustments to accommodate disability (which may be a breach of the Equality Act 2010).

I asked for a supervisor and then a manager and both simply parroted the same line - "it's the policy". The manager initially refused to give her name but eventually grudgingly did, at which point the security staff started accusing me - one of the most mild-mannered people out there - of becoming aggressive, a standard tactic for poorly trained security staff when completely unable to defend an illogical policy and wanting to get rid of the "problem". At one point, my partner told me six members of security staff had gathered behind me!

We ended up going elsewhere and had a great night, spending several hundred pounds which could have gone to MM, and I wasn't initially going to complain, but the more I thought about it, then read the reviews from numerous other people being caught out by the same policy and put at the mercy of security staff better suited to manning the gates at Millwall, I'm posting this in the hope management take notice and review this regressive and discriminatory policy, as well as the approach of their door staff. I'd like to return to MM sometime as it has some great food and beer concessions but right now I simply wouldn't feel...

I'm pretty much here every other week to catch up with friends, have wine have some good food and chill DF out. I love this place. They've got a good variety of food and local beers for you to choose from. You got to come here at least a few times to try everything.

I've got some stalls I like that I stick with. Not all the stalls are great but I am going to leave that to you to figure that one out. However if you happen to swing by here and don't know what to eat, here's a few stalls you could try:

The Argentine Grill - if you like beef, get the beef with sweet potato chips £11. Come early, like say about 6-6.30pm where it isn't crazy crowded yet, they'll make you a nice medium rare steak served with crispy chips. If you don't like beef, they've got chicken options too.

La Pizza Napoletana - Italian pizza. You can't miss this one. It's baked using an old school charcoal firewood globe grill. My favourite pizza is the Lasagnetta £7 (tomato sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, basil and shaved parmigiana). Served on a thin crust, cheesy AF. If you're feeling adventurous , they have a chocolate dessert option.

The Fish In A Cone - I love this place, I usually start my meal with a cone of deep fried anchovies £7 (small) or cod fish £6 (medium). It comes on bite sizes so it's good starter to share with your mates over beer. This thing gets addictive after a while.

Prezzemolo & Vitale - this place sales all sorts: ham, cheese, dried pastas, jam, etc. It's pretty much your Italian grocery store. We usually grab wine from this place instead of getting them by the glass in the stalls. They've got a good selection of red and white wines here. My favourite is the OSO Toscana £16/bottle. It's really smooth. Not too strong and easy to sip. If you're not careful you won't realize how drunk you'll get. You might want to grab some shave meat and cheese while you're there to share. Can't go wrong with that.

You'll probably spend about a good £20-£30 per person, depending on what you eat and how much you want to drink, lol. Most of them here take card, but I'd carry cash and put your card at home so you don't blow your money buying 10 bottles of wine. Speaking...
