The Provincial — Restaurant in London

We sat down as our first meal outside after last covid's lockdown. I felt that the food was very good but also heavy. However, I enjoyed it.

The bad side really was the waiter, we felt that he was very pushy for us to order our food, then made some questionable jokes and allusions during the talks, then we saw "cash only" on the menu but, I only had £30 in my wallet.

He said no problem for paying with card but seemed a bit unclear.

Then as the bill came in, he forced two ladies near by to go to the cash machine for withdrawing cash and asked me to wait in the meanwhile so they didn't see us paying by card.... I do feel for this practice to be very questionable and although we paid by card in the end, the behaviour of the waiter was not good and those are the reasons why I am giving it a 2 stars only. A shame really but, we were served quickly and I believe that the place is having...

Great food with polite and friendly customer service

I have eaten twice at La Provincial now which in Brixton right by Electric Lane and Electric Avenue. My friend and I haven't been disappointed with the food at La Provincial once. The food there is wonderful, delicious and rich. Smells great, tastes great.

La Provincial serves up lovely fresh seafood as well as a range of lovely meat and poultry dishes. And I love their range of tapas also and their delicious sangria.

I just hope that they can open up a bigger location or at least a second location of La Provincial. Go there if you're interested in some very flavourful Latin...

Asking myself how have I never reviewed the Provincial before?! I've been eating here for maybe 5 years, and it's always my first go-to when friends come to visit Brixton. The portions are generous (a very good thing) and the menu is a delightful fusion of Latin American tradition with a nod to Western cuisine - think an English fry up for breakfast with fried cassava and plantain. Yum! And it works brilliantly! The lunch and dinner mains are awesome too. William, the Colombian owner, is a treasure and even let's me practice my terrible Spanish with him....
