Couldn’t believe this. Was met at the door with my son and friend. We had been watching. The local Sunday league football. The man (identified himself as the manager) refused us entry on the ground that we couldn’t use his car park.
We mentioned we were intending on dining and having a drink. He became very animated, aggressive with racial undertones. He proceeded to follow us back to the car blaming us on litter he found in the car park.
Ordinarily Fullers are very good. Sadly not this one.
Retort to reply: I appreciate your stance and it is absolutely your prerogative to allow whomever you wish to use any of your facilities from the bar through to the car park. After inquiring if I were dining would that be acceptable and was informed no I left, I did comment I was surprised as I knew of very few pubs that didn’t want money. The manger shouted after me as I was walking away and after I ever the car followed out too.
The issue isn’t that we were refused entry nor the use of the car park it was the animated, aggressive and confrontational manner in which both my son and I were met. The aggressive nature of the manager was intimidating and embarrassing particularly while I had my 10 year old son.
This was my first visit to the area to watch football, I had no previous contact nor did the club I went to spectate have regards the use of the car park and our patronage of the premises. The implication that others from our party were inside is also incorrect, none of the people I was accompanying entered.
The generic reply and its tone is indicative of the attitude of the manager. Clearly couldn’t be bothered to write a personalised reply and make multiple false assumptions. Doesn’t address my concerns regards the racial undertones (I’m Irish, he shouted something about being filthy while holding refuse aloft, though I was leaving at that point so might be mistaken)
I’d like to point out too I wasn’t wearing anything identifying me as “a footballer” I was wearing street casual clothes (as was my son), I was indeed at the football but in a spectator capacity. I wasn’t dirty, wet, sweaty or otherwise soiled so there was no direct impact on the cleanliness of the premisses based off either mine or my...
Read moreQuick search on Google showed this as the nearest pub / restaurant to my hotel with decent reviews. Great looking building and well maintained olde world tavern feel as soon as you walk in the door (although 2 doormen is a little off putting but probably due to local licensing laws given it is Saturday with the Fury fight happening at Wembley).
Was Seated promptly in the restaurant, and served by the friendly waitress who quickly got our drinks and took our order after explaining a couple of menu items to us. The menu has a good selection of food to suit different tastes although no mention of calories on the main menu except the term… “our desserts contain calories” as a footnote. When the food arrived, it was freshly cooked, tasty and very filling offering good value for money.
We did feel a bit rushed by a gentleman (manager?) who ushered us to another table as soon as we had finished eating, as the one we were sat at had been reserved after we had been seated (confusion among staff possibly) however the waitress was very apologetic and efficient after we decided not to stay any longer in bringing our bill once asked, I think she may have felt a little embarrassed on behalf of the gentleman. As a result of this it loses a star, maybe two? But the food was good and the service from the waitress rescues a star here. Shame really as would of liked to have stayed for another drink and soaked up some more of the amazing building and the warm atmosphere among the diners but didn’t feel welcome...
Read moreI came into the pub with my Assistance dog and was met with extremely rude behaviour and refusal of access. When I explained to the member of staff at the bar that it is illegal for my Assistance dog to be refused access and stated the law that registration and organisation training is not required, he made sarcastic comments such as "Oh you like to state the laws". I understand that some people may not know the law, and that is not what disappointed me the most. It is the fact that he was rude and had an awful attitude towards me when I explained my rights. We were then told that I would have to sit outside with my assistance dog, which it is also illegal to require a disabled individual with an assistance dog to do so and with my disabilities, I would have become cold and could have had a medical episode. I received no apology for the way I was treated. I am a vulnerable disabled individual and it disappoints me that a business treated me this way. It really worries me that other disabled individuals with assistance and guide dogs may not know their rights and may not be able to stand up for themselves with the terrible attitude that this pub has and may give up and leave. As I said before, it is not the fact that they did not know the law that upset me, its how I was treated after I stated my rights and the law and the rude and sarcastic comments that I received and got no apology for. There is no excuse. Overall, very disappointed with the service I received but the...
