🚇 Willesden Junction 🍺 £4.30 Carlsberg
The Shawl is located on busy Harlesden High Street in Northwest London. The nearest station is Willesden Junction, it’s a ten minute walk to get here.
This is a traditional Irish pub that came to be in 1996. I have seen many pub conversions over the years like banks etc, this boozer is quite unique in that it used to be a Methodist Church.
This is a good sized one room pub which has a modern feel to it. The servery is located on the right hand side and stretches halfway down the bar. There is plenty of seating throughout comprising of comfy chairs and banquettes. The walls are covered in Guinness signs, musical instruments and even a pair of hurling sticks. At the back end of the pub is a dartboard, there are also a few screens for live sport.
The beer selection is mainstream favourites, I decided on a pint of Carlsberg, my pint was great and reasonably priced at just over four quid. This pub doesn’t serve food but there were plenty of bar snacks available.
I arrived around 7pm on a cold Friday evening in March. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd in attendance. The atmosphere was upbeat with a good buzz around the bar. There were different sports on each screen with the focus on the preview for the AJ/Ngannou fight.
This pub hosts Karaoke, 80’s nights, DJ’s and Live Music, they also show live sports including GAA
Visiting The Shawl was a good all round experience, this is a proper down to earth locals boozer.
