Breakfast at The Tichenham.

The most valuable piece of advice that I can offer for patrons wishing to breakfast at The Titchenham Inn is - don't! Move up or down the street and find somewhere else.

This is by no means a reflection on the pub itself. The food operation in this 'Moon on the something' pub is run by an independent company. Unfortunately it is run spectacularly badly.

Our visit was on a quiet Sunday in February in search of a half-decent brunch. We got 50% of our ambition with 'half-decent' a distant second. Having waited a long, long time for our order to be taken; what followed next seemed like an eternity. The service is beyond slow. I assumed that the coffee from the bean-to-cup machine was bottomless to help pass the time but unfortunately it broke down after the first cups.

After a polite enquiry to a (very understanding but completely helpless) member of staff the breakfast eventually arrived. Your experience might well be different (I hope that it is) but the food is definitely below par for the price. We have added some photographs, in part because it was more fun photographing the food than eating it.

If a sausage is described as 'premium' it carries and expectation of quality and 'mass'. The sausages are not premium. That is a lie.

The fried eggs were completely burned on the bottom, yet they managed to cleverly arrange for upper parts to be partially cooked.

Toast. Toast is not warmed-through white Mother's Pride. You should be able to identify areas of browning on the surface.

Look at the bacon. I will not dignify it with the word 'rasher'. It is a small, dry, paper-thin sheet of could-be-bacon. Believe it or not, if you wanted a second slice that's a quid onto the price!

Apart from that,...

We have enjoyed some lovely visits to the Ickenham weathspoons, but unfortunately last Sunday my partner and I were verbally abused by one guy who took it upon himself to tell us off, for sitting at the round table by the entrance. As you can imagine our horror and surprise at this happening also that he was right next to us and not social distancing , before we started going back to the pub after lockdown I had already rung the pub to ask if we had to book a table, and was informed that we could sit where ever we liked. When we arrived for our breakfast the pub was empty and we had seen single persons and couple's occupying the table so wasn't aware there would be a problem sitting there. I went and told the manager what had happened and I'm not even sure he said anything to the man and his social group he was with, because as I passed them to go to the ladies I had a comment made towards me and also as we left the pub we heard a loud cheer go up from the man and his friends, I also don't think he has the right to call my partner a nob I was also aware there was a member of staff right by the entrance of the pub who must have seen what happened and should have gone straight to the manager and said man should have been told to leave. I was shaking as I don't like confrontation and felt very uncomfortable by what had happened. I think all staff need to be more aware if anyone is affecting other people in the pub, now unfortunately we won't be returning to the pub as this experience has ruined our enjoyment of our walks to enjoy a couple of chilled hours. I would appreciate it if you could send me a reply...

absolutely disgusted with the customer service of this place!!! i would leave 0 stars if i could! The Manager Jodie is extremely rude and doesnt know how to communicate with people in a civil manner. I never take the time out to leave reviews but this needs to be said...I went to my local pub for a few drinks with the family....as you do. and to be told after 2 drinks that we were no longer welcome is beyond belief. Ive never heard of a PUB that doesnt want to serve you after a few. Jodie the manager said we had been there 5+ hours and drank too much. i didnt know 2 drinks in 2 hours was an issue, i had only been out of work for 3hrs so how could i be in there for that long? i would understand if we were a problem but we were out of the way minding our own business. theres no wonder why the place is empty, and run down not to mention the rats running around in the kitchen and nobody seems to care. after seeing this i felt sick its disgraceful how the managers allow this pub to be run. My family and i will be telling everyone about our horrible experience and about the discrimination we have been subjected too. Steer clear, if you want somewhere friendly with a family environment this place is verrrrrryyy...

We recently visited this place to check out their new kitchen and left with a positive impression overall. The menu looks exciting, and we were eager to try their signature burger and lamb chops. Both dishes were delicious, showcasing quality ingredients and bold flavors. However, the burger was slightly overcooked for our taste, and the lamb chops were a bit undercooked. We shared these thoughts with Mike, and he was incredibly receptive and appreciative of our feedback, which speaks volumes about their commitment to improving. It’s clear that the kitchen has great potential, and we’re confident they’ll refine these details as they settle in. We look forward to coming back and seeing how they continue to grow.

Our second visit here, this time I had a vegetarian option, 3 veggie Sausages, chips and beans, with unlimited hot drinks (Latte coffee). Parking on the main road in the street outside. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor, but the main ladies and gents are up the stairs on first floor level. I didn't really like the veggie Sausages, chips were great, beans portion I thought was a bit on the small side. Unlimited Latte was great too. The only disappointment was 3 of us got wet from a leaking ceiling above where we were sitting (see photo's).
