AVOID THE FOOD POISIONING: Came here yesterday as a gift to my mother. We ordered the fish and the lasagne and was disappointed. We've visited the pub before and eaten here, sad to say will not be return for the food. First of all for the fish which was for my mother and i tried after she stopped eating, the peas were completely cold, While the had a soft rubble like constancy. It appeared as tho the batter had been burned an in attempt to soften it the dish had been microwaved. I myself had the beef and rewine lasagne, which while looking appealing was not. The garlic bread like the peas was cold and tasted more of oil then bread. The pasta itself while having it's flavour was swimming in oil, and burnt on the edges, making it a struggle to even get down. Yet we tried because we had paid the money. As a frequent visitor who used to live just 5 minutes away and a fellow bar worker in london it's a shame to see when quality turns out like this. I've been bedridden all day throwing up since with what I can only assume is food poisoning from here as I hadn't eaten anything else thay day as I was looking forward to the meal. Attached are pictures of the meal

We went for a quick family dinner, Chloe served us and Jess cooked our food. I ate here before but I think the kitchen set on fire, and the chicken I ordered wasn't seasoned jerk. I got the chicken platter, my son for the hit chicken burger(can't remember what is called). Their bbq sauce is amazing btw. We got brownie and make your own sundae for dessert. They said they have a new manager now and the place seemed a bit more cared for. The staff were helpful and kind plus they spent about 5 mins trying to get the kids toy machine working for my little one who had her £1 to spend on the machine. They don't have full day pepsi on tap but they do have bottled Pepsi which is cheaper than the full fat coke. It's alright in there, they need new decor and tables were proper sticky but the staff said they were fixing the place up so we will defo be back.. other customers were friendly and even gave my bubba another quid for the machine. The football came on but it was still a nice atmosphere. Didn't get rowdy.

Popped into the Tollgate for a coffee, with my brother and sister. Prior to a meeting, ordered 2 coffees which were instant coffee, no problem with that, waited 10 minutes. Went to bar to remind the barman, said he'd do it straight away, then he began doing something else, it wasn't till an older lady told him to get us our drinks, that eventually got us served. The locals were friendly as were the staff to be fair, l would use again but not for coffees..

Thought we would give this pub a go while I was visiting family in the area. It has had a revamp and there reviews were good. Ordered a steak and chicken combo asked for no onions as allergic to them. The bar staff said my meal would take longer because of the onions cooked on the plate. The 4 others in my party had their meals, and I waited, and waited and waited for mine and it never came. I asked the staff if it would be soon, was told its being cooked, I was told this 3 times. I offered if I had the fish and chips instead would this be easier, I was informed that there wasn't and fish and they wasn't taking new ordered 🤔, I was then assured my food was coming. After everyone else in the restaurant had had their food and mine still hadn't come I asked for a refund, as 2 hours waiting for my food was now beyond a joke. I could see the chef through the doorway and he wasn't cooking my steak!! The barstaff told me the chef had to clean the whole cooking plate after everyone else's food was cook to cook my food, I can't understand why my food could not have been cooked in a frying pan instead of a cooking plate, the steak is also served on a hot plate and as my steak was ordered as med rare I could have cooked it on the hot plate. Never in my life have I had to wait for everyone else in the restaurant to have their food before mine was started. If you are going to relaunch a pub and want new clients to visit it might be best to make sure you have the staff to serve...

Went there for dinner with my partner and 2 kids. They had to check to see if the kitchen was still serving food at 5:30pm then when they came and told us they were we Ordered 2 kids burgers with chips and beans and then 2 steaks with cheesy chips and 1 BBQ sauce and one peppercorn sauce. Waited over 40 mins for our food, when it came it was cold and the burgers were so dry they were rock hard, the chips were dry, the beans were dry too they had been microwaved on the plate. The buns were hard to. The steaks were burnt on the outside but still juicy inside but the chips were dry. The sauces were cold, the BBQ sauce was out of a bottle to go with the steak, the peppercorn sauce was bland and had hardly any peppercorns in. The chef came out to clear our tables and he had no whites on apart from the trousers. He was wearing trainers and a t-shirt and was sweaty. As a chef myself I know that it gets hot in a kitchen but it is basic hygiene and law to also wear the correct PPE. We will not be visiting there again to eat. It was not very nice at all. I would recommend people not go in there...
