Nicely done up and great place. But I was a bit shocked about the prices to be honest! The picture is of the £8.50 children's meal we bought for our hungry 8 year old. It's a joke! It basically means I would leave the pub in search for more food to feed my kid because he'd just about got his appetite up by the time he inhaled this tiny little starter, which totally defeats the purpose of a pub dinner. I did complain and they were very nice to give us some more. But whilst we understand there is some reason for the portion size in terms of calories (supposedly to prevent obesity in children), I believe a lower price would then be more suitable. I know its an affluent area, but...

A lovely pub in the heart of Muswell hill, on Fortis Green Road. A pub of stripped out " shabby chic" well done. It was not immediately clear what was available on keg, taps are on the back bar. A good selection available and a couple of casks on offer too. Service was happy and friendly as well as speedy, full marks! A word must be said about the garden, a wonderful sheltered patio with loads of seating and an upstairs balcony setting area with more booths and everything, quite brilliant. All in all, a very fine place for a drink or to sample the fine inexpensive, bespoke menu. Certainly worth a visit!!

A lovely Sunday Roast - more veg preferred personally. Meat was plentiful and there was plenty of gravy and tasty Yorkshire Puddings. My friend had the roast chicken and said it was lovely, but a bit too much. A few chicken breast slices would have been sufficient for her. Great service from friendly staff and a nice relaxing vibe too. My friend and I have already agreed to go back another Sunday for the roast. Would be nice if roast lamb and roast pork were options too - maybe a Specials Board?

We’ve visited the Village Green a few times and generally had good experiences, which is why I haven’t rated it lower. However, on this occasion, there were several disappointing issues.

We ordered a G&T with a specific gin, but were informed they’d run out. A staff member said they would try to source more, but they didn’t return. About 20 minutes later, someone brought a drink to the table that was clearly incorrect. When we raised this, the staff argued it was correct. Eventually, the manager intervened, immediately recognised the mistake, and returned with the proper drink. While he offered a vague apology, there was no real effort to make amends.

We were seated in the back room, which was uncomfortably hot despite it not being very busy. The staff could have opened doors or taken steps to make the area more comfortable, but they seemed indifferent.

A disappointing visit overall, especially given our previous positive...

I met a friend here for Sunday lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Friendly and obliging staff. The woman bar tender made me the BEST Bloody Mary I have ever had (other than those I make myself). She also assured me I could have a small portion of the regular roast. We both opted for a roast and sure enough mine was roughly half the size of my friends down to half the enormous Yorkshire. It was delicious and beautifully cooked. Followed by a perfect Americano coffee. Most of the clientele were obviously regulars and that generated a pleasant atmosphere . No major matches on so we didn't have to cope with football on telly or indeed any television at all. I am glad I chose the Village Green for lunch - it is the pub closest to me so I will certainly visit again - the two for one deals caught my eye, maybe fish and chips on Friday? Thank you! lovely lunch, even...

I was more familiar with this place when it was a boring uninviting dreary pub that was so unlovely I only went in because it was quiet. The local Muswell Hill street drinkers do their cans and stuff in the small triangular garden opposite where the lock down drinking took place, as for the pub, the new owners have attempted to make it a bit of a 'meeja' themed gastro pub with props like a projector! Gasp! I noticed the other day that they have regular comedy nights. I'm still especially fond of the wonderful huge old 'Gas Lights' outside sticking out on stantions to the sides of the building and a large enclosed garden to the rear. I haven't eaten here so I can't say if the food is any good. It's looks quite expensive compared to the JD Wettetpants just around the block. They seem to have deals on food during the day. Not really my cup of tea but the garden area...
