We’ve visited the Village Green a few times and generally had good experiences, which is why I haven’t rated it lower. However, on this occasion, there were several disappointing issues.
We ordered a G&T with a specific gin, but were informed they’d run out. A staff member said they would try to source more, but they didn’t return. About 20 minutes later, someone brought a drink to the table that was clearly incorrect. When we raised this, the staff argued it was correct. Eventually, the manager intervened, immediately recognised the mistake, and returned with the proper drink. While he offered a vague apology, there was no real effort to make amends.
We were seated in the back room, which was uncomfortably hot despite it not being very busy. The staff could have opened doors or taken steps to make the area more comfortable, but they seemed indifferent.
A disappointing visit overall, especially given our previous positive...
Read moreI met a friend here for Sunday lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Friendly and obliging staff. The woman bar tender made me the BEST Bloody Mary I have ever had (other than those I make myself). She also assured me I could have a small portion of the regular roast. We both opted for a roast and sure enough mine was roughly half the size of my friends down to half the enormous Yorkshire. It was delicious and beautifully cooked. Followed by a perfect Americano coffee. Most of the clientele were obviously regulars and that generated a pleasant atmosphere . No major matches on so we didn't have to cope with football on telly or indeed any television at all. I am glad I chose the Village Green for lunch - it is the pub closest to me so I will certainly visit again - the two for one deals caught my eye, maybe fish and chips on Friday? Thank you! lovely lunch, even...
Read moreI was more familiar with this place when it was a boring uninviting dreary pub that was so unlovely I only went in because it was quiet. The local Muswell Hill street drinkers do their cans and stuff in the small triangular garden opposite where the lock down drinking took place, as for the pub, the new owners have attempted to make it a bit of a 'meeja' themed gastro pub with props like a projector! Gasp! I noticed the other day that they have regular comedy nights. I'm still especially fond of the wonderful huge old 'Gas Lights' outside sticking out on stantions to the sides of the building and a large enclosed garden to the rear. I haven't eaten here so I can't say if the food is any good. It's looks quite expensive compared to the JD Wettetpants just around the block. They seem to have deals on food during the day. Not really my cup of tea but the garden area...
