🚇 Westbourne Park 🍺 £7.00 Estrella ❤️ A welcoming West London Gastro. . The Westbourne is located on a quiet side street at the edge of Notting Hill. The nearest Tube is Westbourne Park. . This pub was built in 1852 as The Westbourne Tavern, like a lot of pubs these days the “Tavern” has been dropped from the pubs name. . The decor here has a rustic shabby chic feel to it. This one bar pub has an eclectic mix of tables and chairs of which there are many. There is a good size servery which has an open kitchen on the right, the food smelt great as it wafted across the bar. The walls are adorned with a random mix of pop art, paintings, plus photos of punters who’s local this is. To the left of the servery is a secluded snug which has a comfy sofa to relax in to. If you fancy catching a few rays there is plenty of seating out front. . The beer selection was craft focused and included some mainstream brands plus two cask ales. I decided to keep it simple and ordered an Estrella, my pint was excellent but was pricey at £7. This Gastro has a revolving seasonal menu which includes British classics and has a distinct Mediterranean feel to it. Around the walls are a number of chalkboards detailing the extensive food and drinks options available here. . I visited just after 1pm on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was busy with a buzzing atmosphere. The clientele were predominantly a young well-heeled crowd, there were a few other punters, one of which was an older gentleman nursing a large glass of wine who was in deep thought, pubs are great places to reflect. The soundtrack was upbeat soulful classics which was popular with a large group in for a birthday. The service was great, the staff were welcoming and all smiles. . I enjoyed my visit to @thewestbourne ,mostly because the upbeat vibe and the mix of punters. A Public House is somewhere regardless of background you can mix, socialise and interact, it was great to see that here in full swing. Definitely worth a visit folks. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreThe Westbourne in Notting Hill is a nice, light pub with big windows, a good Sunday Roast and very hospitable staff.
On my quest to discover more places in West London, I stumbled across gastropub The Westbourne. This pub on the fringes of Notting Hill is kind of understated, down-to-earth and also a little bit shabby-chic, perhaps.
I liked the high ceiling and the huge amount of light that flooded the entire room. While it was still a bit too cold to sit outside, I enjoyed a place in the sun.
I went there for Sunday Roast and the plates were flying out if the open kitchen. As I was waiting, I started sipping from my Viognier from France. It was recommended to me as dry white wine, but it did not impress me as such.
I was happy to get some bread and butter before my roast. Unexpected at a pub and something that probably underlines the ambition of this place. The bread was not exceptional, but when adding salt and pepper to the mix, it was a great start to my lunch.
The beef roast arrived soon with all the standard trimmings. For me, the beautifully roasted potatoes were the highlight of the dish. The carrots were also nicely charred, yet not too soft just as they should be. The beef was tasty, just the knife seemed blunt which made the job slightly harder than it needs to be. For me, there could have been a bit more gravy on the plate for my miniature Yorkshire pudding.
At the end it was a decent Sunday Roast. Certainly good enough so I would go there again. Furthermore, the guy behind the bar, the waiter and the lovely waitress were all really friendly.
Without a question, The Westbourne gastropub is a pleasant place to sit down and enjoy a drink or a plate of food if you are in the...
Read moreDisappointed and disgusted with the service (or lack thereof) we received today. When I called beforehand to enquire if dogs were allowed, the girl I spoke to, sounded very inviting claiming ‘they love dogs and I can just walk in’. When we arrived, I was surprised with the lack of space for dogs especially for a ‘ dog friendly’ pub & how uninviting the staff were. Whilst we were waiting for our meal, the waiter stepped on my puppy’s tail twice and then proceeded to accuse my puppy of jumping and barking at him rather than taking some responsibility and apologising to me.
The food that we ordered was so bland and not accurate with the description in the menu. The Sunday roast tasted like it had been put in the microwave and the potato’s & Yorkshire pudding tasted like plastic. The lamb was so dry with no flavour and the cous cous had no spices whatsoever. Given the cost of this, I am lost for words.
In addition to the rude, unapologetic behaviour of the staff, they were demanding on us paying service charge and started claiming that they get paid minimum wage. I would suggest that the owner reviews the prices of the menu and pays their staff adequately so they can have some...
