Finally made my way to Sunday in Brooklyn after wanting to try their pancakes for a long while! I reserved a table for me and my friend in advance. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. The place itself is quite small and feeling quite packed. The noise of those in the restaurant along with the reasonably loud music left us feeling we had to raise our voice slightly to hear each other! We put out pancake orders in relatively quickly by an employee whose hospitality had something to be desired. Within less than 5 minutes our pancakes arrived, which we were very shocked by! I was quite suspicious of this, and upon first bite (while the flavour was glorious) found the pancake to be barely warm. I got the attention of a member of staff and explained the problem. There was no apology, and if anything a look of annoyance, as my plate was taken away. Within 5m another plate was bought out, this time the pancake was warm (again, no apology, thought this was not expected based on the previous interaction!). The pancake itself was absolutely incredible. The pancake is more like a beautiful syrup sponge, soft and moist, with a slight crisp on the edges. The hazelnut maple praline is absolutely incredible, super rich and a very strong hazelnut flavour. The syrup is not too sweet, which balances with the sweetness of the pancake itself. Despite this, they defeated both of us! I would definitely advise sharing one (and I have a sweet tooth), especially if you're doing a London Food Crawl 🤣 We were given boxes to take our leftovers away in which I was very happy about (I have since frozen and warmed them up in the oven at home, which has been just as good!). On balance, which the pancake was amazing, one of the best things I have tasted, I would be tentative to dine at Sunday in Brooklyn due to the service, which in my opinion requires much improvement.
Update September 2024: Came back here after my previous review, and had a much more pleasant experience! We had a table booked for a weekday brunch time and the place was already buzzing. We were warmly greeted and our table needs were accommodated (we had a pram with us!). We were attended to quickly and put out orders in and the food came in good time. The pancake could have been slightly warmer but was acceptable, and still tasted as glorious as when I first tried it! My sister really enjoyed her chicken burger and fries also, which were piping hot! We were given takeaway boxes and bags for our leftovers which was very helpful! I feel happy to come back again, for this glorious pancake (I mean, it's more a cake, but what does that matter when it tastes so good🤣), and the much improved service...

Very busy, make sure you book or its minimum 30 mins wait.
I popped to the ladies, two of the free cubicles had no loo paper, thankfully I checked the cupboard under the sink and replenished stock myself!
So the downside was, we waited a while for someone to take our order, that wss until we had to wave at a server to pop over, I felt bad interrupting their chat. My friend was disappointed, as we saw how staff were far more attentive to the table right next to us, not sure why the disparity?!
We ordered two Strawberry Bucks, the Smash burger which came with fries and their popular pancake (double) with hazelnut sauce.
Burger was safe, only we felt the fries were on the salty side.
My friend thought that the pancakes reminded her of Ferrero Rocher, I thought the sauce didn't cover the whole pancake like how it's shown in other photos. She couldn't finish the portion.
We bought enjoyed the Strawberry Buck drink but felt the glass could have been a tad larger, by the time the ice filled half the glasses, we only had 50% of the drink to enjoy.
You're offered still or sparkling water too, I don't know if it's tap or filtered but they're in their Sunday Brooklyn glass bottles and costs £1.00.
Where I was seated it backed onto the bar seats, the customer behind me, pushed back into my chair twice, bit annoying.
Overall it was a pleasant meal, sadly I didn't share the same excitement as other customers.
Maybe they had a bad...
Read moreWe couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding reception than Sunday in Brooklyn. From start to finish, our experience was simply amazing!
Firstly, our event coordinator, Candace, was friendly, so easy to work with and made the whole planning process enjoyable. She communicated with us at every step, ensuring a stress-free experience
What impressed us the most was how nothing was ever too much for the team; they genuinely wanted us to have the best day possible.
We had a mix of dietary preferences among our guests for example—half vegetarian, half meat-eaters, and even one vegan. The chefs and the entire team were incredibly accommodating, adapting the menu to suit our needs and even changing some dishes to ensure everyone was happy. They truly tailored the experience to us!
The waitstaff were all fantastic as well! From our first visit to the last moment of our celebration, the waiters were warm, friendly, and hospitable to both us and our guests at every encounter. Everyone had a smile on their face, and again nothing was ever too much trouble.
Lastly the food was delicious and the space was so cute! We were able to decorate with our flowers and polaroids and the team worked with the vendors smoothly
We wholeheartedly recommend Sunday in Brooklyn as a wedding reception venue for anyone considering a small, intimate civil wedding
We had the best time at our wedding, and we’re so grateful to everyone at Sunday in Brooklyn for making it unforgettable :)
Thank you Sunday in Brooklyn...
