šĀ Rectory Road šŗĀ Ā£5.25 Amstel ā¤ļø An historic big old N16 boozer. . The White Hart is situated amongst a mix of cafes, bars and independent shops on bustling Stoke Newington High Street. The nearest station is Rectory Road Overground which is a five minute walk away. . There has been a pub on this site since the mid 17th century. The current building was built by Charringtons in the 1851, check out those beautiful glazed Victorian tiles. . This is big old high ceilinged boozer, it has a large main bar plus a snug complete with working fireplace. At the centre of everything is a cheery horseshoe shaped servery. At the rear of the pub is a good size beer garden which is a popular spot with the N16 locals. The decor here is a rustic affair, there is an eclectic assortment of tables and chairs, 70ās print wallpaper plus exposed brickwork. There are a few screens dotted about which show live sport and a nice addition is the pinball machine of which I am a fan. . The beer line up was pretty good and had a bit of something for everyone. Iād been on the Amstel all day so I stuck with that, my pint was decent and reasonably priced at just over a fiver. There is a simple pub grub menu available, Fish & Chips costs Ā£14. On Sundays you can get a roast here, a Chicken roast costs Ā£17. . We arrived just after 3pm as we continued our St Patrickās Day crawl around Stoke Newington. The pub was quiet, maybe this was due to the lack of diddly diddly going on as in other close by boozers. We were served by a lively fella who I presume was the Guvānor, nice fella, very chatty. This pub has quiz nights on a Wednesday, shows live sport and there is an upstairs room for hire to arrange a celebration. . This pub receives mixed reviews, from what I have read these vary from the grass is too long in the garden to someone was whistling on a Tuesday, Hipsters eh. I really enjoyed the_whitehart_official , it had a proper London pub feel plus it was great to see a big pub trading, most big pubs across the capital have been converted as they couldnāt be filled with punters. Definitely worth a look in this one. . ā¹ļø Info correct on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe pub with the most beautiful secret gardens hidden behind this was so beautiful the best pub I had found in or around London. The room for massive party's of people is bigger than any other public space around London you could seat around 100 to maybe 2 hundred around in this pub with outside they have to ultra massive seating areas with great ambiance. I walked in there a yound lad answered to me saying come in you can bring some food. His name was Shaun [ he said to myself like( Shaun the sheep ) he was so chatty and welcoming i thought where in london can you find this ambiance with a young man like him polite friendly and inviting great pool table available with multie functioning rooms from the main pub in ample seating with extra big tables very old in style but your eyes never get tired from exploring the wonders of the place with chandler's all old nothing escaped my imagination it was like stepping back in time tranceformed to the early nineties. Great people flowing in to this place a dears head on the wall looked like had watched me when looking around had a giggle a few times as to take this magical ambiance in . On going to the toilet I saw school desk in there how lovely took me back further in time to when I was a little boy. The gardens were massive with steps further down with a massive television to help anybody who happen to go watch a game . But I very much doughty anybody would be watching football the splendor is all there to see and great I would come to London from leeds just for that expireance alone it was pure magical and buzzing with people just through Dalton highstreet. Towards Hackney. Ps nearly forgotten to say different bunches of flowers on every surrounding table and the bar fresh tulip and other spring flowers š sets the level of unique apart by miles in that there is no comparison to anything any where in London.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreDeperately want to give this place the four or five stars it is quite capable of earning by way of its finishings and the stadium-sized beer garden out back, but the choice of beer available after a six year break of not having been in here is still identical to that of 2014, and is shockingly poor. The place reeks of the bad old days where you could choose from stella, becks, heineken or maybe hoegaarden, with much the same in bottles other than the occasional Leffe if you were very lucky.
When questioned on whether there is in fact anything else in bottles after punters have surveyed the sad tap offerings, staff responses to this question almost always seem to be 'eh, what are you gonna do'.
Considering the hundreds if not thousands of breweries literally throwing beer at publicans these days in London alone, the fact that no-one here has bothered to put at least one or two decent craft beers on tap or at least in the fridge is bewildering.
As noted in more than one other review here, they almost certainly seem to be relying on the beer garden to do the heavy lifting - which seems risky, because a british winter in any beer garden that does not benefit from patio heaters is no fun at all, and trying to heat a garden of this size would be psychotic.
Anyways, nice enough interior, the beer garden as noted is pretty sick in the hot months, staff all seem to have a pulse and are usually amiable enough, and the food is passable.
