The pho I had last night was genuinely healing in all ways a bowl of pho can be. The broth (I had the tofu (vg) pho and my partner had the rare beef pho) was rich and fresh.
I’ve been here a few times now. We always sit in, we always get the summer rolls to start and we always leave full. Not overly full but satiated and content. The portions are generous but equally good and tasty to make for the perfect amount.
Dining in space is limited but cosy. We’ve always asked for take out but eaten inside in the take out containers. This time round we asked for eat in and got given bowls and lovely wooden ladles. 100% better eating experience doing it this way. Feels like you're squashed up a bit but the cutlery and removal of disposable containers make you feel a bit more at home.
Past few days i have been riddled with a cold and have been lemsipping it to the nines to try and get over the sneezing. It wasn’t til i was faced with my tofu pho, when the steam hit my face, that i realised that this was all i needed. I left red face from the heat. cured.
I've woken up this morning genuinely better than ive been all week. not saying it was because of this but also not saying if you are feeling poorly this wont fix you right up.
see ya soon...
Read moreHad lunch in here earlier. They do not open at midday as per their website. It was pretty clean and decent inside. A few chairs ( 4 ) to sit at worktop style and eat. The server could have been more cheerful and a smile would have been nice. The food was a lunch deal, starter and main for 11.00. I just initially wanted to eat/drink Pho for I was cold and needed some heat inside my body. The chicken satay, served in a cardboard box even though I was eating in was not fresh, avoid that. The chicken Pho, I felt had no umph; no power. It was fragrant and fine, but could use more - I don't know how to say - I have had some powerfully cooked Pho at other places - maybe this is not cooked long enough. Final thoughts, it's cheap and cheerful, shame the human server was not friendly, and Pho is a true soup cooked for a very long time and one should feel better immediately after eating that lol If the basics were improved upon I might even recommend them but until I try them again for their beef Pho, we remain...
Read moreOrdered: Chicken Banh Mi and viet iced coffee.
While the coffee was delicious, well balanced and icy cold, the Banh Mi was a major let down.
Not sure if it’s because I’m so spoiled for choice at home (Melbourne, Aus), but this didn’t hit the spot at all.
The bread seemed like a Turkish roll or even a ciabatta mix which was just weird. Definitely wasn’t the gorgeous crunchy baguette I’m familiar with (and expected). The chicken seemed to be a skewer-like variety drowned in a sweet chilli sauce which was honestly pretty gross. No hoisin, no patè, just a bit of mayo (which was actually a bit sickening paired with the sweet chilli) and a whole lot of carrot.
We also asked for extra coriander and were quite literally given one leaf for the entire roll. The person who took the order even confirmed it with us more than twice. Not sure what was up with that.
Overall, this was more of a western chicken sandwich than a...
