I went to Testi in Stoke Newington with my mum. We have been going for years and have never had an issue. My food was absolutely fine however my mum ordered the lamb ribs which came very fatty, no meat on the bone at all. May I also add every occasion we have gone to testis my mum has ordered the lamb ribs and had no issue, would occasionally get a couple fatty pieces but nevertheless that expected. However, this occasion all ribs but two were full of fat.
My mum didn’t want to complain as it’s not in our nature to do so but when you pay £23.50 you expect your food to be cooked to perfection. The waitress who we complained to was very lovely and said she will inform the manager. The manger told her to tell us that sometimes the meat does come fatty as its lamb and not beef? At this point there was no offer to resolve the solution by changing the food or offering something else.
We asked for the bill in which my mum made a comment “you have lost a very loyal customer” and moments later before the bill was brought the manager finally decided to come and talk to us. To begin with he was very abrupt in his approach but later on understanding where we was coming from and what we was trying to say. The manager did offer us the option for a new plate of food. My mum refused and the manager said he will deduct the lamb ribs from the bill.
My overall point of this review is not to tell people not to come here as all the other occasions we have been here the food has been perfect, it was just our luck today that my mums food was not cooked the way it should have been.
The point I’m trying to make is we were left to feel so bad for complaining but not only that my mum was put in a position where she had to watch me eat my food and not be able to enjoy her food. A new plate of food should of been offered straight away from the complaint
I hope the staff at Testi and the manager can learn from this so no one has to feel the...
Read moreWent here with my girlfriend last night, late evening. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our experience at all.
The service was extremely rude from the very beginning. Literally shouting down at me in a very aggresive tone whilst booking a reservation. I was understanding of this as they may have not understood English very well however, when the young man was passed on to me whom could communicate English very well, he was extremely rude also.
Upon arrival of the restuarant, the workers didn't even have our reservations planned. We had to wait half an hour to be let in to outdoor seating. Once seated, our food finally arrived after 50 minutes exactly. Even newcomers were served before both of us. The food wasn't as great as people have exaggerated on their reviews. Portion size was awful for value. The only thing I personally enjoyed was the salad as it was so lemony and full of flavour. However, the amount of food was tiny. Both lamb serma and chicken serma beyti, the bread was all undercooked. Rice had no flavour and we were hardly given any of it.
The waitress was fully ignoring us everytime we tried to ask how long our food would take. The other male waiter wouldn't even assist us.
There was not even one gesture to apologise for the wait or any message to advise us of how long the wait would be.
We are very understanding people and both business owners ourselves so we try our best to give uplifting feedback however, we can both honestly say we will not be returning again.
None of your staff carry any manners which is such a shame.
Hefty bill at the end of a very uncomfortable night, life goes on....
Read moreOn Sat 12th July, was my 2nd visit, for a freinds birthday 1st was on new years eve and both times was a complete sham! The food standard was way below par. No bread, salad or dips or given to start, most other places give this as standard, while you wait.
Bread came with the was burnt, no decent salad, slices of thick carrots on the edge of a sad looking salad, on a small plate.
We ordered a £60 platter, meant four people, it came with just wings, ribs, one each skewer of chicken & lamb shish. The lamb shish cubes were tiny. This place cuts corners everywhere. I ordered a seabass, it came with a sprinkling of wilted lettuce, I called the waitress over, to draw her attention to this, I asked if this is meant to be the salad,,she replied "yes", then said she'd call someone.
We had the same experience on new years eve. We were also rushed, as food took ages to arrive as well.
I felt sorry for the male waiter with the glasses. He tried his best after taking over from the lady, because we raised so many issues. Will certainly not be going here again, there are loads of other Qualuty Turkish restaurants just down the road, where you'll get your monies worth on the platter, as it will also include, chicken & lamb doner, köfte and two types of rice.
Only those who are inexperienced with Turkish dining would find this place amazing. There's much better place down the road.
I hope the admin from Testi do not attempt a response, because when we asked for the manager that night, they refused to come and put the poor...
