Visited previously for lunch, the Thai food is very good. That said, The Heron Bar, a 10 minute walk away also serves Thai food if that’s what you’re after, and the food is just as good, if not better.

Before visiting please give consideration to the following:

You CAN NOT order food without buying a drink. You CAN NOT order food BEFORE buying a drink. As the owner has mentioned in reply to an earlier review “it’s really quite simple”! A glass of water is £2.50 because you must be charged something before ordering food. The owner will rudely and aggressively tell you why, whether you ask or not. If you are on your own, only want one drink, and don’t have cash there’s a £10 minimum card limit. Upon seeing a card in my hand I was told “I’m charging you £10 anyway”.

If you want to experience Thai food that is decent enough and the rudest owner/land lady and bar staff for miles, this is the place to be.

Turn up, buy a drink. Don’t dither. Do everything in the correct order. Order drinks in enough quantity so as not to fall foul of the £10 minimum charge and you’ll be fine. Get any of the above wrong and you’ll be on the wrong end of rudeness and the bar staff ganging up on you making things even more confusing.

I swore (not usual behaviour for me) at the awful people running the bar and left having been spoken too like a moron. Apparently I’m now barred. If only I could find another pub somewhere in London to have a drink and...

My jobs has send me to Western Eye and for lunch I've chosen this establishment since it's just around the corner and was craving fish&chips.

Service was extremely polite and nice, I was first customer but still didn't expect that. I don't know her name but blonde lady - props from me, that's how you keep your customers coming back.

But why you don't serve F&C is beyond me, such a classic. Had a burger with fries which was overall good, although bacon was hard and rukola seems like addition which is nt needed, let's keep it for italian pizza. Chips were very good.

Defo want to visit again, seems like a great place to stay and enjoy a pint or five.

Oh and they have a pub dog, very shy mind you.

Visited again today 08/05/24 and my burger was great, presentation too. Barmaid even did a clover on my Guinness and that’s something. She is the best, always smiles, happy to help, seems she is enjoying her work.

Think my work will be sending me there every week now, so that’s a...

My experience last night of the of Thornbury Castle reminded me of some dark old times... On a more human/positive note the Royal Oak was about 50 yards away, the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. They seemed to enjoy the fact that people in their bar were there to 1) spend some money and 2) have a drink. Quite refreshing really and probably why they were so busy. Best of luck Thornbury.. I've actually been to your pub before on my way to watch the rugby at Twickenham hence why I encouraged my 2 long time friends to pop in. My mistake, how ironic.

Thank you for barring us.

Keeping things factual and precise (i.e. not making things up), by law we are within our rights to request any CCTV footage you have of us. Hence why from your perspective I would be very careful about making public accusations which may prove to be false.

Accusing someone of something they didn't do publicly can and will get you into a...

I love the place. Been couple of times for their live music nights, which I can highly recommend. Last Sunday I went for their Sunday roast and boy oh boy, it was so yummy. So much so, I am planning to return coming weekend with friends. the only tiny little thing is the lack of website, insta or co to get updates on latest events, menu etc. for example never quite sure what day the live music is. Anyway, aside from that I can only recommend visiting this lovely (still a little hidden) gem

We went to a gin festival at St Mary's church near Marylebone station and came across this great pub. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the pub was great to relax with a pint. There is a good selection of beers, wines and spirits and it serves food too. There are several TVs in the pub to watch sports. I love that the ladies toilets had sanitary products, deodorant etc that was really nice to see. I will definitely pay this pub a visit next time I'm in the area
