OK, let's be clear - we went in here by mistake. Not that we entered thinking it was somewhere else or stumbled in in error - just that going here was a terrible mistake. We were very tired after a very busy day. The pub we had wanted to go to was packed out and spilled out onto the street (Wine Wednesday apparently) and this place was nearby so we popped in while we gathered our thoughts (ha! A likely chance). It's a sports bar, OK. So that means there are TVs everywhere. Showing sport. Everywhere. Not all on the same channel but everywhere. And I'm sorry, I know this is the 21st century but there wasn't a woman in sight - no clientele, no staff - not even on the telly. If it had been any more macho it would have been wrestling itself all naked and greased-up on some ancient Greek mosaic. There were sections of the carpet (floor even?) missing and the replacement pieces of board held down with a combination of gaffer tape and warning tape. Everything was sticky - almost every surface you touched. Nobody looked happy in there. The staff certainly didn't look, sound or act happy. While I was being served people arrived and immediately started angrily proclaiming that they should be able to get a booth (people were rather shamefully already using the booths in the bar). The bar staff added fuel to this self-righteous fire by saying they were about to start putting signs out advising some tables and booths were reserved for later on. There were people apparently asleep (passed out? Just tired? Let's say tuckered out) in the 'fan zone' area at the back. No mean feat considering how noisy it was in there. It was an awful experience. If you are already half drunk, love sports (any, it doesn't matter - one you like will be on one of the TVs somewhere) and like basking the casual threat of violence that comes with being surrounded by overly stimulated, testosterone filled men waiting desperately for something, anything to happen then this is the place for you. If however you have a family you care for, and personal belongings you would like to prevent from at the very least being ruined and hearing you would like the use of tomorrow this is a place best avoided. As I say,...
Read moreVisited tonight and sat on a reserved table, planning to move when the table arrived. We were told when we arrived that past kick off for the football game being showed we could order food. Another table of 4 were moved onto our table (of 8). Staff member came round and removed the reserved sign at 8pm (reservation 7.45pm). We ordered food. The food arrived. A different staff member with a clipboard came and told us to move (the same staff member who had just taken the food order). The table who had reserved were 20 minutes late and were rude and aggressive, pushing on shoulders and shouting ‘I want to sit down’. We left, and waited a further 20 minutes at the bar for a refund for the food that was sitting on the table going cold. Staff have no clue what’s going on and ineffective communication/booking system/lack of a manager means that situations could easily escalate quickly. The table of 4 also on our table that had been moved from their reserved seats were also being asked to move and refusing. Really concerning that such a busy bar is being managed by people who have clearly had no training. It’s not an environment I’d feel safe revisiting as verbal and physical harassment, the result of a situation they themselves had caused,...
Read moreWe're visiting from America and were excited about being able to watch the first week of NFL games while here. We had a reservation, which didn't seem important as no one had a table reserved or even took our name when we arrived. Our server was very slow, didn't know anything about the beers on tap and I asked 4 different times for the WiFi information. He said he didn't know it, but would find some one who did. (They had little slips of paper with all info on it, however, the password was incorrect on it) I got the info from the table next to us... We ordered three burgers and all tasted good, mine was supposed to be a bacon cheeseburger, but somehow missed getting the bacon.
Food was pretty good, atmosphere was great for watching football, but they did have one game with the sound up loud, then 4 games on a split screen, a bit difficult to track everything, but happy to have the opportunity. Overall service in the basement was horrible. A bit like they have the servers start out down there until they learn the ropes of serving and then can...
