Tian Hu Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in London

Racist!!! After reading such great reviews, I really wanted to try this restaurant. I turned up today with my family of 5 and was greeted at the door by a woman who immediately asked if I had booked a table. I said no and she harshly told me that they are a very busy restaurant and they are fully booked. The place is small and I looked around and saw a room full of empty tables. I asked her about this and was told that the tables were all reserved and that the guests were all on their way. I asked if there was anything I could book for later and she abruptly responded no. My family and I returned to our car and started to make our way to another restaurant. It had only been about 2 minutes later but something told me to call up instead to try to book a table. I called up and a man answered. I asked if I could book for a table of 5 and he said no problem, when do I want it? I asked if there was anything available now and he said sure! This was interesting-especially as my family and I are all black!! We returned to the restaurant about 2 minutes later and this time we were greeted by the same guy who took my phone call. He seemed taken aback to see us again and tried to cover up straight away when I asked why we were refused in person. He quickly told me that they had a cancellation....honestly this I find very hard to believe happened so quickly. Anyway despite all of this so far, we still sat down for a meal and was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Throughout the meal the staff were quite offish with us and the waiter was constantly nitpicking on my 11 year old son. We definitely did not feel welcomed at all! The food is nothing special. We found the starters to be overcooked and burned. The main was again nothing to rave about. When the bill was brought over to us, I was quite surprised by the price because the restaurant is promoted and advertised as an all you can eat buffet. We assumed that we would be paying a set price per person. I said this to the waiter and she told me that we didnt order from the buffet menu. I told her that I wasnt even aware that there was a seperate buffet menu as I had only been given one menu. She cheekily said oh well nevermind! I was purposely not given a buffet menu. My only conclusion is that this place is racist! We were never welcome here to begin with and the staff went out of their way to ensure that we felt this and they succeeded. I will never go here again and I will spread the word and hope that another black family never has to experience such obvious racism in this day and age!!!!! If I could give 0...

I was with a larger group and they made provision for us to sit together, comfortably. Unfortunately, we had mixed feelings about the food. Some dishes were excellent, delicious (veg spring rolls, duck and sweet and sacour chicken were very good). However, most of our main dishes were just average. We went there because of the Google ratings but it was an average restaurant from our experience.

SEATING: Good that they have plenty of customers even at lunch time on a weekday and have adequate seating facility too. SERVICE was good and staff were friendly. *Their rule about 'only cash' and 'card payment accepted' made us bit confused as with certain Menu card they accept only cash, where some other Menu card would give us the option for card payment. It was bit complex and so we sticked to the cash only option. PARKING: Harrow council parking is right behind this building and had adequate parking slots on our visit.

Overall, I would not go back there as it's a more than half an hour drive for me and the experience was nothing...

Soak up the atmosphere and sit back and enjoy the hospitality. If not the take-away & home delivery service are 1st class...never had a cold or bad delivery. Tried and tested other Cantonese style restaurants locally and further afield to no avail😕..Just keep returning😁😁. Speaking as a Hospitality /Chef Manager,for them achieve the great high standards and quality of food on offer here in such a small restaurant makes a great night...
