I just rate this place with 3 stars at the moment because few changes are needed. After reading few reviews about the jackfruit & veg biryani I tried it recently. I was quite surprised that it had tasteless frozen vegetables and also felt shocked that there were just a few tiny pieces of bland tasting tender jackfruit with no flavors at all.
It was not marinated like they do for their non veg briyani dishes. It was very expensive & worthless for the price. Rice just tasted after ghee. It didn’t even have the taste of pilau rice. It was more like a mix rice with steamed veg.
It was a total disappointment and I am glad that I never ordered or recommended this dish, when I visited with Tindli with my friends.
Just because the team wants to promote themselves as a remarkable restaurant in Croydon, there is no need to minimize your quality of food as it is run by a renowned 5 star restaurant in a posh area.
Your restaurant is in Croydon and most of your customers come from asian community so according that your price should be very convenient for them to dine out with their families.
Most of the items are just too expensive and the portions are really not up to the expectations. For example the dahi vada. Family of 4 must order at least 3 portions of it so you can really enjoy it fully but for its quantity as a starter or snack, it’s definitely overpriced.
Tindli members must really look into this matter and charge their customers rightfully.
For example £2.50-£3.00 for gun power chips
Kalappam - reintroducing the bigger size like it was at the initial stage. At that it was cheaper too.
Jackfruit briyani - it’s £10 in a small little pot. It should be marinated well and cooked with fresh vegetables and proper briyani masala flavored rice.
Paneer makhani - £10 Most of the veg curries are unacceptably expensive. If you charge higher than make sure you serve appropriate portions to your customers.
Pazhampori with ice cream - it’s almost £7 but the worth is under £5
So there are many small things can be adjusted by the team so the dining experience is equally enjoyable for all.
One dish which always stands out is FISH MOHINI.
Many people might have tasted various other dishes which may have tasted great and for which they have been charged and served appropriately. Glad if they had such an overall experience.
I feel some of the social media promoters of tindli are getting served on their plates far more than a regular customer.
Hope such discrimination can be also changed in the future. Promoters shall speak up the truth and do justice for their viewers and also inform about the fixed prices and quantity of a dish rather only praising about the service and quality of the whole ambience.
Thank you and definitely go and get your...
Read moreAs first-time visitors, we were genuinely excited to explore the food variety at this restaurant, especially the Chattichoru. We traveled all the way from Liverpool specifically to try this dish. To ensure a smooth experience, we booked a table online and also called ahead to confirm the availability of Chattichoru during our visit. The staff member who took our call was welcoming, and we arrived at the restaurant at 4 p.m. However, we were initially concerned about the customer service. No one acknowledged us, and we had to wait about 20 minutes before asking for a menu. Surprisingly, a local group that arrived later than us was served before us.
At around 4:20 p.m., we asked for the menu and quickly placed our order for Chattichoru, fish fry, and fresh lime, requesting that it be served promptly as we had been traveling a long distance and had already been waiting for a while. Unfortunately, they first brought us soda lime instead of the fresh lime we ordered. We didn't mention it at the time to avoid further delays. We then had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our food, which only arrived after we approached another staff member and inquired about it.
Thankfully, after this, a staff member, possibly named Sruthi, approached us. She apologized for the delay and did everything she could to ensure we were happy with the service. She even brought us complimentary payasam and checked on us several times to make sure we were satisfied. Without her assistance, we would have rated the restaurant much lower. Sruthi was truly a blessing to the restaurant and greatly improved our mood and experience.
The food itself was of excellent quality and quantity, but the customer service definitely needs improvement. We suggest that all staff members receive training in customer service and handling to enhance the overall experience. As a result, we are giving a lower score for customer satisfaction but a good score for the food. We hope the restaurant will address these issues and improve soon....
Read moreMy first time was for our Valentine Day and this place did not disappoint. Overall I loved the experience. Pros: ambience, cleanliness, discrete bathrooms and separate well done hand wash areas. The food was very good. Especially all the Kerala cuisine. We decided to go with the Valentine day special which worked out to 70£ per couple. A cocktail that just kicked in the mouth- with the few bits of chillis and it actually helped to taste the pre starters better. Two pre starters, two starters and all the mains re filled as much as you wanted. The pineapple sev puri, fish curry, Travencore fish cutlet and butter chicken was outstanding. The appam was perfectly soft and the correct level of fermentation and just paired beautifully. The naans were just off the oven and the saffron rice a perfect accompaniment. But the absolute perfection was the dessert Adapradhaman. I didn’t even bother trying the Gulab jamun.
Cons: service was a bit slow. To be fair, the place was packed and this is a general comment. Our server was an absolute jem of a girl who kept running around and keeping her calm with the chaos having a full place brought. Perhaps organizing the pre drinks come to the table as soon as we order the special would have mitigated that. I think the veg options did not shine next to the non veg options. The sev puri was the exception. The cauliflower aloo gobi was tasty but a bit cold and the potato al dente which is not how it usually is. The dal had raw onions and tomatoes as garnish but I couldn’t get the flavors of the tempering in it. And with the dessert, the biggest peeve was that we had to share the dessert when every other thing on the menu was not like that. I can tell you I did NOT want to share that adapradhaman! Overall I loved the experience and if you decide to come knowing you will wait a little it is well worth the experience. Shoutout to our server from Idukki. You made the experience...
