Uraswamy's Indian Hornchurch — Restaurant in London

Food was nice as per usual. However please be warned that when perusing the menu you are given the take away menu (apparentlyfor covid reasons), which obviously shows prices, yet when the bill comes at the end there is a drastic price increase of around £30. A table of 5, 2 adults, one teen and 2 children, 5 large non alcoholic beverages one adult had a selection of 3 starters as their main, the 2 children shared a curry, rice and bread there was 2 additions curry's and rice's, breads, poppadoms. This order would normally of come to £46-50 on the take away menu prices (the same one that is given to you to choose from when you eat in) yet this bill came in at £96. Obvs slightly shocked I looked through the menu, to see what could of caused such an increase or to see if there was an error, to then be told that they are not the prices that are being used, that is just the take away menu and prices and its more expensive to sit and eat in. Yet the prices that are being charged are not disclosed to the customer nor is the fact that the prices they are showing you on the menu they give you aren't the prices they will be charging. Obvs the bill was paid, i have mentioned to them that it isn't fair on the consumer that they are with holding this information furthermore it is illegal to do this, as the consumer rights they have the right to refuse to pay as they should only pay the price that is displayed. If there was an incident of refusal to pay and the police were to be called legally the customer would only have to pay the price they were showed. My wife phoned to book a table 4 hours before our desired time. It was made to sound like they were potentially full but said they would squeeze us in. We got there to find a restaurant 70% full lol. We didn't mind. The staff are all friendly and the atmosphere is nice here. There is a lot of choice on offer here so we were spoilt and careful not to over order. Everything tasted lovely and the standout dish being the Xhacuti, turns out we were full and couldn't finish it all. Doggy...

It’s been a while since we ordered take out from Uraswamy’s and cannot believe how different it was.

Ordering was quick and easy via the website and it was ready very quickly.

However the standard of the meal was nowhere near what we have had in the past. Both mains were literally swimming in oil and I had to drain it off before serving up, there was far too much onion in my dish, and instead of slices it had been diced.
