Went to visit a family member in London and she took 4 of us out this cocktail bar. To be honest the actual cocktails were lovely, the pizza was nice enough. The thing that let this place down massively was the service. When we arrived we were sat by a man that told us there was a set deal for a pizza and cocktail. When the waitress came over she told us that this was not applicable today and that the other guy had got it wrong and we couldnât have it on a Friday. I did feel her delivery couldâve been better however I stuck up for her to the rest of a table and explained that, being a waitress myself, it is frustrating when other members of staff get it wrong and you have to explain. Anyway, 20 minutes or so goes by, the food comes and weâre all stuffing our faces enjoying it and what happens? The waitress comes back over to take a payment??? Whilst weâre eating??? I was in shock. I would never attempt to take a payment for a guest whilst they were eating, only exception being, if they are in a rush and had asked to pay!! It felt as though they wanted us out the entire time even though there were only 3 other tables in the whole place. Very strange indeed. On top on this when the lady took the payment she didnât even show us the amount on the screen, I had to wait until after to see how much Iâd been charged, which was ÂŁ4.50 too much from what Iâd calculated from the menu. An itemised bill wouldâve been a better option so we could actually see what we were paying for. Looking at the rest of our parties payments too, I think we were all slightly overcharged. I understand there was probably a service charge, and thatâs fine, especially in London I know this is the norm. However, a breakdown of the bill wouldâve saved...
Read moreHello, I genuinely hope this is some helpful feedback because I really like coming to Venn St Records. If covid didn't hit I would have had my birthday party there! Last night (29/07/22), I have never experienced such rude and unfriendly staff anywhere I ever gone out. Also, I have never written a complaint about any business ever, but I felt I had to give you some feedback because I like the place and the experience could be 1000x better. The issues were: The guy looking after the outside area in the waistcoat at 9:40 was telling people to go inside. When I asked why he said that at 10:30 the outside area closes!? He didn't just say this once but every 10 minutes or so for the next hour. And every time it was like we were just really putting him out. The door people have this absurd airlock system. Go in one door, wait in the middle part for the next door to be opened. The guy manning the second door said "quick quick" like I was the one slowing it down. Also, when a girl wanted to push past my friends and I, that however was no problem?? The INCREDIBLY rude barman. He took the drink orders from any women around me until there was no one left to serve and I had been waiting ages and then was looking past me hoping someone else would come until he reluctantly served me. It was loud so I said loudly "a meantime", he very seriously said "what's the magic word?" he said this several times until I understood that he was annoyed I didn't say "please". How incredibly petty!! He was a bigger guy with a...
Read moreWent there last night with friends. Sit outside to eat and the waiter said that they not serving food outside (about to close the outside area) and if i can go inside we can order. Fair enough. We go inside kitchen is closed we get told when ordering at the bar counter. Not a first good impression specially with all the great customers service we are seeing after lockdown reopening of hospitality. Ok we get drinks even though they staff serving not even paying attention to me while talking to a friend, they leave the drink far from me with the guy serving on the outside (then she realised she has not given me all the drinks etc..anyway). Then decided to stay for 2nd drink because my friend wanted to stay for another one. Waiting for the waiter for a while then decided to go order at the bar as i did the first time, then bar staff tells me straight "Table service mate". Then i left. People are happy to support hospitality and you should take care of your customer more carefully, this is not pre-covid era. There so many choices in clapham where i live and experienced great service lately. I am willing to support my local restaurants, pubs...but not with that kind of service and attitudes. Just my feedback here and 2 my friends were not impressed too. Things are different now, it is not just back to business you need to rethink your services otherwise you will suffer like many...
