I came in with my mum on Tuesday. It was quite a nice day and we sat outside and had a nice lunch, £54 with two starters and coffee with some ice creams, was ok, but we enjoyed the food, but one thing I would critique is the battered prawn starter, which had no taste and were like rubber. We both said at the time they maybe frozen, or a cheaper brand as it was a lunch menu. I would like to add the service from an older man and young lady was fab. Forward today, Thursday. The place was empty, all told there were three having lunch. One group left when I got there, so there was me, a chap waiting for a take away pizza. It took me ten minutes to get approached by the waitress today, I think they were not really too bothered about serving me, too busy talking. Anyway, not a biggie, I knew what I wanted, and as it was a lunch hour, I just wanted in and out. I ordered an ice coffee, the zucchini fritters, and a green salad with toms, cucumber and olive. Unfortunately the salad was disappointing, I said after I ate one mouthful I was disappointed there was NO cucumber on my plate, it’s was called a green salad with cucumber. There wasn’t any, so I told the waitress, I did say the zucchini was nice, so they didn’t think I was moaning for the sake of it. She took my plate into the kitchen, then 90 seconds later she came back with my plate of salad to tell me she found one quarter of a piece of cucumber…and she said “ I found cucumber, there is cucumber” . I replied “ok, you found one teeny quarter piece” I was not impressed. And I left it at that. I don’t know why she had to come back and tell me she found a slither of cucumber, maybe she wanted to make me feel bad. I didn’t appreciate it. I didn’t touch that salad and they still charged me for it, even tho I told them there was too much oil on it for me, and mayo, the menu didn’t say it was a dressed salad, most places will say there is a dressing and that’s why I didn’t think to say “no dressing” I feel she should have taken the salad off the bill, or at least the service charge. My family and I have been coming to this establishment since it first opened. I doubt i will be back again, my mother said she definitely wouldn’t also. When I came in on Tuesday the two servers on shift were lovely and friendly and happy to serve us, but today, the vibe was completely different. I even said “thank you” when I left to the pizza maker, even tho I didn’t eat a pizza, he didn’t even respond to me saying “thanks and goodbye” I found this quite rude. A whole miserable experience. I doubt even happy hours 2 for 1 cocktails is enough to get me back again. Ps I must add the blonde lady did say goodbye to me as I left, so at least I appreciatesd that. The other lady wasn’t friendly at all. Not one smile left her face the whole time, and compared to the lovely servers on Tuesday, it was like night and day, it was so different. I asked her for extra ice today, for my ice coffee, I don’t know why but I felt like I was being a nuisance, even tho the place was empty, I got the impression I was being annoying to her for asking. When I come to a restaurant I don’t want to feel like I am not welcome and I don’t want to feel bad for asking a waitress for an extra ice cube. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life, in galleries, museums and historical buildings all over London, I know what customers service is, today there was zero customer service whatsoever. And this is why I only gave two stars today. I’m...
Read moreWe visited during the Eat Out To Help Out campaign - it was very busy with a queue outside. We were acknowledged by waiting staff, and told to wait, but weren't given any clue as to how long we would be waiting. Around 15 minutes later they had a table for us, we ordered fairly quickly as the restaurant was very busy and a large group behind us were about to order, so we jumped the gun. The group behind us was 17 strong, I thought there were rules around having groups that big?
Within 5 minutes out food arrived. I was shocked at how quick it came out. It tasted OK, the margharita had too much cheese on it though. The scamorza and coppa pizza had pefect cheese amount, but almost no tomato. You could tell they were made in a huge hurry.
Our waitress was friendly but clearly absolutely rushed off her feet that she could barely finish any task before she had to start a new one. There was no element of social distancing going on, the big group behind us were always standing up and in the way of the entrance to the building. No one asked them to stick to their area. The tables were all bunched together too, it didn't appear the restaurant had done much in terms of social distancing measures at all. There was a sheet you could fill in with your details of your visit, but no waiting staff were asking people to fill it in. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and had 5 staff in it. If you're a bit wary about where you eat in terms of the measures put in place for covid prevention, I wouldn't recommend this place...
All in all, it was an OK experience. Couldn't fault the price at all given the 50% discount. It's a hard one as the restaurant are clearly happy to take as many willing customers as they can in order to make as much money as possible, and I get that. But a few more measures inside to help customers and also alleviate some of the strain on staff wouldn't...
Read moreIve been coming to Eco for over 10 years, and although a few friends will no longer go there due to the serve I've always stayed loyal as I love the food. I reluctantly went there last night after a pretty rubbish experience last time I went where we just left waiting for ages for anything to come, it took a gentle reminder that we were ordering our drink, the food came out wrong and it was as if the waitress was first offering for us to have what had come out rather than offer to re-order another (which we did) we then had to physically get up after 25 minutes of ordering the bill to pay as the waitress just simply forgot us. It wasn't that bad and I appreciate at times it can be very stressful which is why I chose to ignore this experience. However, I have never been so disgusted and appalled by the level of service me and my friends received last night. The main host/manager was attempted to argue with me about an order he had gotten wrong as he did not listen. Even after not listening that I didn't want him to make another one, he came over with another version which again was not correct. Please tell me who wants to have tomato with garlic on top as a garlic pizza bread. He was arrogant and rather than leaving me and my friends to enjoy our meal he was purposely coming over several times to ask if everything was ok just to be antagonistic. He served us Lemoncellos at the end to apologies (which I found rather insulting), rather than take the garlic bread off the bill as I hadn't even eaten it. People I know have stopped going there because they have found the staff to be so rude......and unfortunately I can do nothing but agree. Farewell Eco it was good...
