🚇 Deptford 🍺 £5.60 Pilsner Urquell ❤️ A splendid Victorian survivor. . The Victoria is located in a quiet residential area just opposite Pepys Park in Deptford. The nearest train station is Deptford, it’s about a fifteen minute walk to get here. . This stand out three storey pub was built in 1847 and has experienced a turbulent time in recent times having been derelict for over 10 years. Thankfully the pub was restored, refurbished and reopened in December 2020. . This is a bright and airy one bar pub with a simple but elegant servery at its centre. There is wooden floor running throughout and tiles around the bar. The seating is low level plus a few stools at ledges and placed around the bar. Under the windows is a long leather banquette, to the right of the bar is a cosy booth. The walls are adorned with an eclectic mix of photos and pictures, there is also a dartboard if you fancy a game of arra’s. To the right of the pub is a small smart courtyard beer garden. . The beer selection is excellent, there are lots of craft options from local London breweries plus continental brews and Guinness. I decided on a Pilsner Urquell which is fav of mine, my pint was great and price point good at under six quid. The food menu has a mixture of small plates and burgers, a Dirty Vic Burger with fries costs £10.50. . I arrived around 1.30pm on a Saturday afternoon, I was greeted by a lovely lady who was organising things and getting ready for the day’s trade. There were a few other punters in, all of which were chilling in the beer garden outside. There is a wonderful Victorian aura around this pub which sets a nice tone. Throughout the month the pub hosts quiz nights and runs various promotions on 2-4-1 burgers and happy hours. . This is another area of London where there is considerable redevelopment taking place at the moment. This in turn should help support this pub’s future by increasing the amount of potential local punters. The @victoria_pub_se8 is another success story where a pub has lovingly been restored to its former glory. I definitely recommend a visit here, fantastic pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreEnjoyed our brunch out on the sunny terrace. Service was v friendly and this is a great and much needed local pub. However, the food is overpriced, which is fairly understandable as it’s new and it’s been an incredibly hard time for hospitality, BUT, not including an egg in a £12 full English breakfast and then charging £2.50 to add one on top is a real cheek and beyond ridiculous! Even places in Central London don’t try this on. Something to consider when you have very tough local brunch competition from Pear Tree and Plough Way Cafe.
Also the cheapest, flimsiest plastic cutlery was woeful and kept snapping but we were told this would be gone by next week. I even considered gifting them a few packs of decent wooden forks from Amazon Prime to tide them over (only about £7 for 200 forks FYI). Also, please serve decaf coffee (whatever your principles are on it)- there are loads of pregnant women in the area and it would...
