Vijay's Chawalla is a culinary gem that caters to the vegetarian palate with its delectable offerings and warm Gujarati hospitality. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to discover this haven of vegetarian cuisine, and my recent dining experience left me thoroughly impressed. The restaurant boasts a charming and inviting atmosphere, creating a comfortable and relaxed dining environment. The decor is tasteful, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat, and the attentive staff, predominantly Gujarati, exuded warmth and professionalism. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Gujarati Thali—an exquisite feast that showcased the diverse flavors and culinary traditions of Gujarat. The thali consisted of an array of delicacies served in small bowls, allowing me to savor a variety of flavors in one meal. Each dish was prepared with finesse, using fresh and high-quality ingredients that elevated the dining experience. From the moment the thali was presented, I was captivated by the vibrant colors and enticing aromas. Also side dishes , Dhokla, crispy Fafda, and fluffy Khandvi were among the starters that delighted my taste buds with their unique textures and delightful flavors. The main course offered an assortment of dishes such as the aromatic Gujarati Kadhi, comforting Undhiyu, and flavorful Gujarati Dal. The perfectly cooked Basmati rice and soft Rotis complemented the flavors beautifully.
What truly stood out was the impeccable balance of spices in every dish, allowing each ingredient to shine and creating a harmonious blend of flavors. The chefs at Vijay's Chawalla have undoubtedly mastered the art of Gujarati cuisine, leaving no room for disappointment.
To conclude the meal, the restaurant offered a delightful assortment of traditional Gujarati desserts. The melt-in-your-mouth Mohanthal and the sweet and sticky Jalebi were absolute delights, providing a sweet ending to a memorable dining experience.
In summary, Vijay's Chawalla is a haven for vegetarian food enthusiasts, offering a Gujarati culinary journey that is second to none. The delightful Gujarati Thali, combined with the warm and attentive service, makes for an unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Gujarat in a welcoming and...
Read moreThe food has great flavour, the consistency is also good except for the daal that is a bit watery. I am giving three stars because the prices are a bit over the top. The portion size lets down and the service time is very slow. To eat here you will wait about 35 minutes from the moment you start queuing to be seated. There are chairs at the entrance for those taking away and the place has two toilets, one for female and one for male. The female toilet has an air hand dryer that is faulty, giving burst of air rather than a continuous dose. There is a sink to wash hands inside the toilet and an additional sink outside the two toilets where you can wash your hands before and after eating without having to go inside the toilet. In terms of acoustics, it is a very noisy place and you will be able to hear the conversations of those around you. I am pleased to say that you do not have to be south indian to eat here. The menu is in English with a description of the dishes and waiters seem happy to explain words you may not understand. In terms of menu flexibility, they will absolutely not change any bit of the dishes for you. What is in the menu is what they serve. In terms of accessibility, a wheelchair can go in but seating will not be fully comfortable as tables are very near to each other. There is no accessible toilet facilities for wheelchairs. There is no braile menu and there is no hearing loop available. Payment can be in caah but if made in cars then you need to spend £20 for some unjustified reason. I could not find a food rating sticker anywhere. While i was eating a masala dosa i foind a piece of a metal...

Food is all Indian cuisines from South Indian, North Indian so Gujarati, Punjabi with vegetarian burger, plain chips as additional options suitable for kids in addition to dosas, bhajiyas which kids should enjoy.
In the menu there are options for garlic, onion as well as vegan meals in addition to all meals being vegetarian. There are lots of Indian street food dishes to try and very suitable for any time snacks with hot Indian masala tea.
Overall it is a great place for snacking, lunch or dinner and conveniently located on Green Street making it ideal for popping in after shopping on Green Street. Not quite 5 stars as most options on menu are slightly over priced and fish tanks are not always there which is disappointing for kids who look forward to it as part of the...
