I had bought a book, but then realised that it was the wrong one so I took it back the next day. I was served by a brother, probably in his mid 20s or late 20s who usually is at the counter.
I asked very nicely if I could exchange it for the correct one and he turned around and said "we don't do exchanges or refunds on books" . As far as I'm aware they did not have this kind of policy before and obviously because of Coronavirus they made this rule. I'm not sure how I can spread Coronavirus through a book when there's customers out there who go to the shop and are trying on clothes and touching the books.
To his reply, I responded nicely and said, "why don't you do exchanges anymore because you used to.". And then he turned around and said, "coz we don't" in a rude tone, he pointed at the receipt, he pointed at the counter, behind the counter and said that there's signs everywhere saying that there's no returns or exchanges in a rude way.
Whilst I was still speaking, he started serving another customer. I found that very rude and bad customer service. This happened in Ramadan so I didn't say anything because I didn't want it to affect my fasting.
If they took Coronavirus so seriously then they would have maintained social distancing measures and not had about twenty people in the shop at once. Plus half the people don’t even wear face masks.
If this wasn't in Ramadan then I would have told him that he's in the wrong for talking like that, especially working in an Islamic shop. But because it was the first of Ramadan, an hour before fasting opened I did not say anything. Bad attitude and manners disgust me, especially in a peaceful month. I’m not the kind of person who gets into drama and responds to people like that, I just ignore them but his behavior shocked me. The response could have been said nicely like "sister, we have this policy" etc. One of the important factors of being a Muslim is to have good manners and be humble.
Wearing certain attire and working in an Islamic shop would expect one to be humble, not behave like a muppet. I went to another shop straight after leaving this shop and was served by a non-Muslim who spoke to me in a respectful manner. I'm not saying that you can only be a nice person if you're a Muslim but if you are going to work in an Islamic shop then you need to be humble and represent Islam properly.
The shop is called Islamic Impression but it doesn't appear that they're giving an Islamic impression. Recruiting employees like that gives a bad impression. I'm not surprised at all by the negative reviews here, I couldn't agree with them more. And I don't doubt that the employee being referred to as having rude customer service is the same one who served me. No wonder why the business is not as busy as...
Read moreI had a really negative experience with Rez, the supervisor in Islamic Impressions. Their policy only allows exchanges - no refund and not even credit notes. I bought a thobe as a gift and wanted to exchange for a bigger size but they did not have the size I wanted. I kindly requested for a refund which he refused, I then requested for a credit note so I could go back at another time and choose something which he refused again. He told me shops in Green St do not give credit notes or a refund which is NOT true as most give credit notes at least. He said "there is a fitting room and people should try it on before buying". I explained it was a gift and that they don't have the size I'm looking for. I didn't want to buy another one for the sake of it. He spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful manner, in front of other customers. He accused me of being rude to him because we were Bengali. This is not a race issue and this comment was unnecessary. This is an islamic shop and you would expect the staff to be humble, respectful and represent Islam in a good manner. Please note the brothers that work downstairs and the sisters on tills are very...
Read moreHorrible Experience, I purchased artwork in glass and my wife did not like the product due to its size. I went back to the store to return the product and was informed that their new covid rules stipulate that no returns or refunds are in place to which I queried how it was possible that I tried on their thobes and that had no bearing... I was told they spray disinfectant after customers wear products? Strange how clothes can be disinfected but glass cannot... Anyway I was refused the refund and the staff members were absolutely a joke they should not be called Islamic Impressions as the person I was speaking to from their head office said I don't care about Islam its business... I loved this shop but due to staff treatment I would not recommend anyone buys from a company who are extremely rude, unprofessional once the purchase has been made... Please change your name to Islamic Impressions only if it benefits... At least then people will be warned before they enter...
